Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Junior Data Scientist to join our team! In this role, you will apply your knowledge and experience to extract and convey actionable insights at NORAD and USNORTHCOM. As a Junior Data Scientist, you drive end-to-end growth by designing rigorous data-driven pipelines and visualizations, shaping high-level strategic roadmaps, and serving as the cross-functional bridge across multiple engineering and leadership teams.You will be supporting the NORAD and USNORTHCOM Office of the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO). You will partner closely with the other members of the Nyla CAIO team to structure data science workflows and deliver high-consequence operational tools that solve critical mission challenges!

The annual base salary range for this role is $120,000-$155,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Required Skills

  • Programming & Data Science Tools: Proficiency in Python, SQL and/or TypeScript
  • Enterprise Data Platform Management & Development: Experience in Palantir Foundry, Databricks, or a similar data platform, and other enterprise DoW tools (War Data Platform, Power Platform, GenAI.mil) automating manual workflows and building operational user-facing apps
  • Data Visualization & Analytics: Ability to design impactful data visualizations and dashboards to clearly communicate insights from multiple enterprise datasets.
  • Data Engineering and Governance: Familiar with developing and maintaining data pipelines (including cross-domain) and ensuring data health and appropriate user access.


Education & Experience:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience delivering data and AI solutions
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or a related field.


Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated history of delivering high-consequence mission-enabling tools and solving complex operational challenges.
  • Well-versed in data governance best practices and driving cross-functional technical excellence.
