Full Job Description
Bring your software development skills to a mission-focused environment where your work supports advanced signal processing and data analysis capabilities. Join NS2 Mission as a Junior-Mid level Java Developer in Chantilly, VA, supporting applications built on NeXtMidas, a programmable signal processing library used to solve complex mission requirements.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers across the software development lifecycle, contributing to the design, development, testing, debugging, configuration, and support of Java-based applications. This is an opportunity to grow your technical expertise while working with a specialized platform and solving challenging problems involving signal and geospatial data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain software components that enable users to process and display signal and geospatial data.
  • Develop solutions using Java and integrate with native C++ code to support mission requirements.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges through software design, development, and debugging.
  • Create and maintain automated tests using JUnit and the NeXtMidas macro language.
  • Maintain and support test environments leveraging Jenkins, GitLab, and various map servers.
  • Participate in software configuration management and continuous integration activities.
  • Support application users by responding to technical questions and help requests.
  • Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and end-user support.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong software development experience with Java or C/C++.
  • Solid working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience developing unit tests and creating standardized technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with development environments and build tools such as Eclipse and Gradle.
  • Experience with source control management and continuous integration technologies such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, and GitLab.
  • Active Security+ certification or the ability to obtain the certification within the first 3 months.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a mission-focused environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NeXtMidas, X-Midas, and/or fundamental Digital Signal Processing (DSP) concepts.
  • Java certification or equivalent demonstrated knowledge.
  • Experience with C Shell and Bash scripting.
  • Background creating and managing Docker images and virtual machines (VMs).
  • Experience developing with Python, and/or FORTRAN.
  • Familiarity with the SIGINT community or related mission environments.
  • Strong background in mathematics and science.
  • Understanding of geospatial concepts and data.
  • Experience working with TLS and PKI certificates.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka Streams, and Apache ActiveMQ.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $95,499.00 to $134,755.00. The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
