You'll work closely with product managers, software engineers, and mission stakeholders to understand user needs, translate requirements into thoughtful designs, and bring those concepts to life through functional interfaces. From early research and wireframes through prototyping and implementation, you'll help ensure applications are intuitive, consistent, and built around the people who rely on them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research and gather feedback to better understand user needs, behaviors, workflows, and pain points.
  • Translate user and business requirements into wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs.
  • Develop intuitive, responsive user interfaces using React, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Apply HTML and CSS along with modern front-end practices to create accessible and visually consistent experiences.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the design and development lifecycle.
  • Build reusable interface components and contribute to scalable design systems and component libraries.
  • Apply principles of color theory, typography, layout, and grid systems to create cohesive visual experiences.
  • Evaluate designs through usability testing, stakeholder feedback, and iterative refinement.
  • Promote accessibility and responsive design practices across applications and user experiences.
  • Support the transition from design concepts and prototypes into production-ready front-end components.
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure designs are implemented as intended.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Professional experience in UI/UX design, front-end development, interaction design, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, or comparable modern front-end frameworks.
  • Solid knowledge of HTML and CSS and modern responsive web development practices.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles, visual design fundamentals, and usability best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance user needs, design requirements, and technical considerations.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with prototyping and design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards including WCAG and ARIA.
  • Experience designing responsive and mobile-first interfaces.
  • Background contributing to design systems, reusable components, and UI libraries.
  • Experience creating animations, transitions, and micro-interactions that enhance usability.
