Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Java Developer to support the development and enhancement of a mission-critical trading platform. This role involves a combination of long-term strategic development and business-driven initiatives focused on increasing trading automation, expanding electronic trading capabilities, and developing algorithmic trading solutions. The successful candidate will gain expertise across multiple platform components and take full ownership of projects from requirements gathering through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services supporting a trading platform.
- Develop and enhance algorithmic trading capabilities and automated trading solutions.
- Collaborate directly with trading desks and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Work with both modern and legacy applications to support ongoing platform enhancements.
- Take full ownership of development projects from concept through production deployment.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production and application issues.
- Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning activities.
- Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, scalability, and security requirements.
- Work collaboratively with developers, traders, analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Explore and leverage AI tools and AI-assisted development capabilities where appropriate.
- Continuously improve development processes, automation, and platform efficiency.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5-15 years of professional Java development experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java.
- Strong experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience working with a combination of modern and legacy application architectures.
- Basic understanding of Fixed Income products and financial markets.
- Ability to effectively communicate with traders and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on business outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Interest in and ability to work with AI tools and AI-assisted development technologies.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience within the financial services, capital markets, or trading industry.
- Knowledge of Scala and/or Python.
- Experience supporting electronic trading, algorithmic trading, or trading platform development.
- Familiarity with low-latency, high-performance, or real-time systems.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Willingness to learn and work with emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions.
- Understanding of fixed income trading workflows and electronic trading systems.
Certifications- No specific certifications required.
- Oracle Java Certifications are considered a plus.
- Cloud, AI, or Financial Markets-related certifications are beneficial.
