Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our team in Toronto. In this role, you will analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs and scalable solutions. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, including API design, development, developer testing, release activities, production support, and documentation.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, application development leads, business stakeholders, QA teams, and other project stakeholders to maintain traceability between business requirements, technical designs, and delivered solutions.

This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our downtown Toronto office and/or client office a minimum of three days per week. This requirement is subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, solution designs, and software components.
• Design and develop APIs based on business requirements, system architecture, high-level designs, established design patterns, and development best practices.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support Java-based applications and microservices, including complex system and business logic.
• Develop high-quality test cases and technical documentation while maintaining traceability to business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, development leads, business stakeholders, QA teams, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to the end-to-end delivery and successful deployment of large-scale projects using iterative and Agile SDLC practices.
• Support release management activities from a project code perspective and provide advanced support for operational activities, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and performance tuning.
• Serve as a technical resource for modelling, simulation, analysis, and technical or business guidance.
• Ensure applicable quality, security, and compliance requirements are incorporated into supported solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, development best practices, process efficiency, productivity, and operational, tactical, and strategic planning.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on Java development experience within an enterprise environment.
• Proven hands-on experience with microservices architecture and API development.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience developing web services using SOAP, JSON, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with OAuth, Maven, Git, SQL, and OpenShift.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and successfully deploying large-scale projects from end to end.
• Experience working with iterative and Agile software development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, Azure, OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), or equivalent.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including an understanding of application performance tuning.

Nice to have
• Experience with Java 21.
• Understanding of modern software development concepts, processes, technologies, and development culture.
• Knowledge of approaches and techniques for providing technical or business guidance.
• Ability to adapt effectively to evolving requirements and changing environments.

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000-$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
