As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking - Trust & Security Identity team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Lead the decomposition of existing bespoke Java/Spring Boot Identity services into discrete, platform-consumable components with stable API contracts
  • Apply legacy modernization patterns (strangler fig, anti-corruption layer) to migrate services incrementally without disrupting in-flight products
  • Define and enforce API contracts for all services being migrated or retired - ensuring consuming teams are not broken during transition
  • Build and maintain the developer portal enabling line of business and product teams to discover, onboard to, and monitor platform services
  • Contribute to observability tooling - logging, tracing, and alerting across the platform to provide unified operational visibility
  • Partner with the platform Integration Engineer to ensure migrated services conform to platform integration adapter patterns
  • Improve application stability by identifying migration risks early and building automated validation into the migration pipeline
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and provide thoughtful code reviews to raise engineering standards
  • Partner with product and technology stakeholders to sequence migration priorities against business impact


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
  • Experience decomposing bespoke or monolithic services into platform-consumable components with well-defined API contracts
  • Experience establishing and versioning stable API contracts for services being decommissioned or migrated
  • Experience with Java, Spring-based technologies, and event-driven microservices in a cloud environment
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, and data modeling
  • Hands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka or equivalent)
  • Experience containerizing and running services using Docker and Kubernetes (including Helm)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services technology - onboarding, KYC, or identity domains preferred
  • Cloud certification and demonstrated cloud-native engineering experience
  • Experience building or contributing to internal developer experience tooling - portals, sandboxes, API documentation
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specification-first API design
  • Experience translating performance, reliability, and scalability requirements into platform-grade service design
  • Knowledge of service mesh patterns and inter-service observability
