Summary

The incumbent will work within the NAS Enterprise Services Team, Infrastructure Subteam, AJW-1721.

Duties

Incumbent serves as a lead software developer and technical authority on project teams that may include computer engineers, computer specialists, computer scientists, and electronic engineers for at least one of the following systems (NCR, SFDPS, IAM, ESM, NADIN, AMHS). Plans and conducts analyses of broad areas of projected work processes, operational practices, problems, and system needs. The incumbent is responsible for providing technical direction and guidance for system software development and deployment. In this capacity, the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of second-level engineering and system maintenance.

Incumbent designs, develops, and conducts complex independent and interdependent technical analysis to identify and resolve problems that impact system performance, maintainability, reliability, usability, or service continuity. Identifies system requirements and demands for modified objectives, enhancements, procedures, techniques, and equipment and evaluate timeframes of needed modifications. This includes, but is not limited to, software development, testing, field support, identifying future system requirements validation and verification of system bugs and errors, system restoration, project planning, system maintenance, and software installations.

Based on technical expertise, incumbent provides input to management on plans, resources, schedules, priorities, and goals of a project. Maintains an awareness of the status and progress of all projects within the assigned technical area and recommends adjustments in accordance with established priorities.

Incumbent will work with external stakeholders to identify system needs and priorities as well as working with management to get projects approved and scheduled and will be responsible for evaluating team workloads and assigning work to individual members of the team.

Incumbent will also lead the team with supporting the field when assistance is required. This will include working with field personnel to troubleshoot and resolve system problems restoring functionality to the NAS. Incumbent will have the overall responsibility for identifying root cause of system events, communicating findings upward to management and outward to other stakeholders. Incumbent will lead the team to identify and implement corrective actions to identified system problems, including developing system software updates.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is: Experience with the operation, software development code, and troubleshooting of at least one of the following systems (NCR, SFDPS, IAM, ESM, NADIN, AMHS). Experience in providing second level engineering support to first level maintainers. Experience withCMHP FAA specifications and coding standards, relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Java Message Services (JMS), flight data publication, ActiveMQ, Rabbit MQ, Mosquitto, Solace, and/or FAA information display systems.
