Full Job Description
IT Software Engineer II

The IT Software Engineer II role is a member of PERSI's Applications team, performing the full range of applications design, analysis, and programming functions, including work on solutions built with Power Apps, SQL, our enterprise content management (ECM) system, and WordPress.

The ideal candidate is able to identify and resolve operating system and application problems, work effectively with business partners to understand technical and business needs, and contribute to the design and development of well-engineered, tested solutions.

The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, independent technical judgment; communicate recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences alike; and uphold high standards of quality, security, and maintainability across the team's work. This position will work with PERSI staff to build stronger relationships with our members at every step of their retirement journey.

As a Software Engineer II, you will:

  • Works effectively with business partners to understand and explain business and technical issues.
  • Creates information architecture documentation, including site maps, flow charts, and functional and technical specifications.
  • Assesses different architectural options and recommends an approach.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains solutions using platforms such as Power Apps, SQL Server/databases, the agency's ECM system, and WordPress-based web properties.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of hardware and software product standards, balancing the needs of standardization and innovation.
  • Develops code and configuration to add functionality to new or existing systems.
  • Tests and troubleshoots applications to identify and resolve defects and production issues.
  • Supports monitoring and maintenance of data quality across agency systems.
  • Assists with the performance, usability, and security of web servers and applications.
