Summary

This position is located in the Technology, Cybersecurity and Joint Cybersecurity and Integration Center (JOIC) for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA), where the incumbent serves as a Cybersecurity Privacy Analyst.

Duties

Help

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Promotes awareness of data security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in the program visions and goals.
  • Organizes awareness and training programs to ensure that system and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to system security policies and procedures.
  • Attends and analyses classified threat briefings, including Red Team Threat intelligence briefings, to contribute to interagency security efforts.
  • Plans and manages analysis of data from intelligence briefings to assess the impact to VS EHRM-IO/DOD operations and makes recommendations to organizational leadership, particularly in the areas of response, recovery, and continuity of operations at the local,
    regional, state, and national levels.
  • Manages audits to joint EHR systems to ensure mission and life critical systems are secure.
  • Formulates and recommends changes in procedures, practices, and techniques to accomplish desired results with a broad view toward obtaining maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Advises and recommends policy and program changes based on organizational management analysis theories, concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday between 8:00a-4:30p EST

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/11/2026.

You may qualify based on your education and/or experience as described below:

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Experience:

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate, demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

In addition, individuals must also meet the specialized experience required. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves performing risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs; directly overseeing information technology projects; conducting system security evaluations; performing data collection and analyses; and developing and implementing procedures to improve existing cybersecurity plans.
