Job Summary

Infrastructure and Resilience IT (I&R IT) invites applications for an IT Business Systems Analyst! This department provides a broad range of services in support of department programs, and Boulder campus-wide infrastructure and facilities. The group is responsible for systems and applications ranging from traditional Enterprise Applications and Information Technology (IT), to Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) such as Building Automation Systems (BAS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), along with the associated server, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, backup, and data storage environments. I&R IT includes the following work units: Enterprise Systems, System Administration, and Client Representatives.

The Enterprise Systems work unit within I&R IT services include design, configuration, and implementation of new systems; consultation with users to identify appropriate solutions; and ongoing maintenance, administration of enterprise-class business applications (AssetWorks AiM, Go, ReADY, Oracle Unifier, Meridian) used in the daily operations of I&R, Facilities Management, and Design & Construction groups within I&R. The department is also responsible for database administration (Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) of databases and data warehouses serving the department and its systems, including automation, data feeds, and Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting.

This role is an individual contributor within the Enterprise Systems work unit, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of enterprise business applications and delivering data and reporting solutions supporting Facilities Management and Capital Projects operations, including troubleshooting, configuration, and vendor coordination. This role implements and takes ownership of assigned application support, operational, and data-related work, including user support, system coordination, issue resolution, and development of Power BI reporting and data analysis solutions. The position is a key contributor for both system support and data-driven decision-making, ensuring enterprise systems are effectively used and reporting and analytics needs are met in a reliable and maintainable way. Data and reporting responsibilities are closely aligned with operational and application support priorities. This role includes hands-on operational work (tickets, user requests, issue resolution).

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Enterprise Application Support & Operations

  • Provide daily application support for enterprise systems (e.g., AssetWorks AiM, Oracle Unifier, Meridian), including service requests, user access, issue resolution, and general system support.
  • Solve system and data-related issues, including data quality concerns, reporting discrepancies, and system-data alignment.
  • Support application updates, testing, validation, and implementation activities to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Assist with access requests, security roles, and user provisioning in accordance with established processes and policies.
  • Work within ticketing and request tracking systems to manage workload and ensure requests are documented, prioritized, and resolved in alignment with team processes.
  • Coordinate with technical staff, vendors, and collaborators to support system changes, upgrades, outages, and issue resolution.
  • Provide backup support for enterprise systems functions, ensuring continuity of service.
  • Document application configurations, support procedures, and system dependencies.

Business Intelligence & Data Development

  • Support operational and application needs through development of reporting and data solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards supporting operational and business needs.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from Oracle, MySQL, and related systems.
  • Develop and maintain datasets, data models, and reporting structures to support ongoing analytics and reporting needs.
  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes supporting reporting and data integration.
  • Collaborate with partners to capture reporting requirements and deliver effective BI solutions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and proper use of data in reporting outputs.

Training and User Support

  • Provide end-user support and training related to enterprise systems and BI reporting (AiM, Unifier, Power BI) under the direction of Enterprise Systems team members.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation and training materials supporting system usage and reporting.

Security Management

  • Support implementation and maintenance of application and data security controls in coordination with Enterprise Systems staff and campus security resources.
  • Assist with maintaining user roles, permissions, and access controls across enterprise systems.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of data security and access practices.
  • Ensure systems maintain security in line with campus security policies and procedures.

Policy Compliance & Documentation

  • Assist in documenting and maintaining procedures related to enterprise systems, data flows, and reporting.
  • Ensure assigned work follows campus standards, policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain technical and functional documentation including data mappings, report definitions, and operational procedures.


What You Should Know

  • This is a primarily in-person position. Limited hybrid work may be available after onboarding, but is not guaranteed. This role has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday during regular business hours.

The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $90,000 annually.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Experience developing BI/reporting solutions using Power BI (DAX, Power Query, report formatting), or equivalent tools.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries (joins, aggregations, sub-queries) against production relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, or similar).
  • Experience working with data from enterprise, or operational systems (e.g., ERP, EAM, or similar).
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-system environment with competing priorities and operational support responsibilities.


What You Will Need

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and querying databases with SQL.
  • Proficient in PL/SQL for Oracle, and advanced SQL for MySQL.
  • Proficient in scripting languages like Python, or JavaScript for automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL for creating queries, stored procedures, and database management.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, AWS, SQL or other cloud-based databases.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools like Excel.
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights in a clear and actionable way.
  • Superb communication skills for collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to fix data and application issues.
  • Thorough approach, ensuring data accuracy and quality with a focus on delivering high-quality visualizations.


What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience developing Power BI reports using complex data models (DAX, Power Query).
  • Experience with Oracle-based enterprise systems or similar platforms (e.g., Unifier, AssetWorks AiM, or equivalent).
