Full Job Description
IT Automation & Support Engineer

San Ramon, CA; Reno, NV; NYC

The role

Ridgeline is growing fast, and that growth lands hard on IT. Rather than adding a person every time ticket volume climbs, we're building the automation and AI tooling that lets a small team support a lot more people.

This role does two things. It builds the backend automation - Okta Workflows, Jira Automation, Atlassian Rovo - that resolves repetitive tickets before they reach a person. And a few days a week, it provides hands-on, in-person support at the office. Both parts matter, and we're looking for someone who's good at each and actually enjoys both.
About the team

We work in sprints with scoped projects, and we put real effort into automating repetitive work so the team can spend its time on problems that need a person. Sprint work runs alongside the day-to-day support and ticket queue that keep the offices running, so you'll do both.

The team spans several offices, weighted toward the West Coast, with room to grow on the East Coast. Wherever you sit, the problem is the same: how do we scale support without just scaling headcount?
What you'll do
Automation & AI infrastructure
  • Build and maintain automations for repetitive work like access management and laptop inventory.
  • Develop automation pipelines in Okta Workflows and Jira Automation.
  • Build agentic workflows in Atlassian Rovo: creating skills, improving the inputs the AI learns from, and expanding automated ticket deflection.
  • Plan and scope work with the team on sprint cycles.
In-office support
  • Provide hands-on, in-person support at your office.
  • Handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 support: laptop provisioning, account lifecycle, and everyday employee IT needs.
  • Be the local go-to, so the rest of the team can stay focused on project work.
Your first 90 days
  • By 30 days: you understand how our systems and processes work today, and where they break down.
  • By 60 days: you have enough context to weigh in on team projects and priorities.
  • By 90 days: you're running sprint work, improving processes, and applying your automation experience to real problems.

Beyond that, you'll help level up the wider team and keep in-office support at a consistently high bar.
What we're looking for
  • 3-5 years in IT operations or system administration.
  • Demonstrated experience actually building automations, not just using them.
  • Comfort scripting in Python or Bash.
  • Hands-on Okta experience (user and app provisioning, security policies).
  • Experience managing Mac fleets and platforms like Jamf, Google Workspace, and Atlassian.
  • Genuine comfort moving between backend technical work and in-person support. This is a true hybrid role, not a path to settling on one side.
  • A bias toward improving things rather than just keeping them running.
Nice to have
  • Hands-on experience with AI and agentic tooling (Rovo, Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) in IT workflows.
  • Certifications in Okta, Jamf (200), or Microsoft/Azure.
  • A working understanding of secure API usage and integrations.
  • Real enthusiasm for the in-person, employee-facing side of IT.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is $104,000 - $131,000. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

As an employee at Ridgeline, you'll have many opportunities for advancement in your career and can make a true impact on the product.

In addition to the base salary, Ridgeline employees can participate in our Company Stock Plan subject to the applicable Stock Option Agreement. We also offer rich benefits that reflect the kind of organization we want to be: one in which our employees feel valued and are inspired to bring their best selves to work.
