In particular, you will help build and modernize large-scale consumer banking experiences, focusing on areas such as customer onboarding, account management, and money movement. As part of a greenfield initiative, you will lead the development of new mobile capabilities designed to support expansion into new markets and evolving regulatory requirements.

THE ROLE

As an iOS Team Lead, you are a true project leader. You own the technical direction and delivery of client engagements while multiplying the effectiveness of the engineers around you.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will design systems, write code when it matters most, guide architectural decisions, and ensure the team delivers high-quality outcomes even when you are not directly contributing code.

You will work closely with client stakeholders, designers, product partners, and Lab49 leadership to ensure solutions are technically sound, aligned with business objectives, and delivered with excellence.

This is an on-site role - 5 days/ week in the WTC area in NYC.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, implement, deliver, and test innovative iOS Swift applications while understanding our products from both a technical and product perspective in the context of our client's business.
  • Communicate with leadership, product owners, othertechnologistsand users to create working software based on an understanding of business and technical priorities.
  • Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions to intelligently solve problems for Lab49's clients.
  • Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices and new technologies. We are always improving the process of building software; we'll need your help to do that.
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends.
  • Experiment with and learn new technologies.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 6 to 12 months, success means:
  • Your teams consistently deliver high-quality software that meets user and client objectives.
  • Engineers around you become more autonomous, capable, and effective because of your leadership.
  • Clients trust your judgment and rely on you for technical direction and clarity.
  • You demonstrate strong ownership of outcomes, proactively addressing risks before they become issues.
  • You can step away from day-to-day coding when needed without compromising delivery quality or team performance.

What You Should Have

  • 10-12+ years of experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software systems, with 4+ years leading Agile teams
  • Proficiency in Swift and experience with native iOS development tools such as SwiftUI, and UIKit
  • Experience in consumer banking including account management and onboarding.
  • Familiarity with integrating RESTful APIs and third-party libraries
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for mobile applications
  • Understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and best practices to create intuitive and engaging user experiences
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in fraud management/KYC/AML and regulatory reporting
  • Experience using on device biometrics for authentication
  • A strong portfolio of released applications on the App Store
  • Experience with AppConfig community standards and enterprise app distribution
  • College degree in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, Copilot) to improve team velocity and code quality, and help the team adopt them responsibly

About ION

Ion Television is an American broadcast television network owned by the Ion Media subsidiary of the E. W. Scripps Company. The network first began broadcasting on August 31, 1998, as Pax TV, focusing primarily on family-oriented entertainment programming. It rebranded as i: Independent Television on July 1, 2005, converting into a general entertainment network featuring recent and older acquired programs. The network adopted its identity as Ion Television on January 29, 2007, and currently airs programming in daily binge blocks of one program, usually acquired procedural dramas. The network also carries some holiday specials and films before Christmas. Ion is available throughout most of the United States through its group of 48 owned-and-operated stations and 23 network affiliates, as well as through distribution on cable and satellite providers; since 2014, the network has also increased affiliate distribution in several markets through the digital subchannels of local television stations owned by companies such as Gray Television and Nexstar Media Group where the network is unable to maintain a main channel affiliation with or own a standalone station, for the same purpose as the distribution of Ion's main network feed via cable and satellite. The network's stations cover all of the top 20 U.S. markets and 37 of the top 50 markets. Ion's owned-and-operated stations cover 64.8% of the United States population, by far the most of any U.S. station ownership group; it is able to circumvent the legal limit of covering 39% of the population because all of its stations operate on the UHF television band, which is subject to a discount in regard to that limit. In the digital age, the restoration of the UHF discount has proven controversial with other broadcast groups and FCC rulings between presidential administrations, though as the network's parent company mainly acquired low-performing stations and stations on the fringes of markets which targeted lower-profile cities in the analog age, it has not been an issue with Ion Media itself.
