Overview

WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking an Investment Associate to support Financial Advisors and client service professionals in delivering investment analysis, research, and client materials for defined contribution plan clients, primarily 401(k) and 403(b) plans. This entry-level role will assist with the preparation of meeting materials, investment-related projects, and responses to client requests, and will occasionally participate in client meetings. The Investment Associate will work closely with the advisory team to help ensure deliverables are accurate, timely, and responsive to client needs.

Responsibilities

Work with our Financial Advisors, client services professionals, and occasionally directly with firm clients to:
  • Support investment-related projects and deliverables for defined contribution prospects and clients, with an emphasis on 401(k) and 403(b) plans
  • Assist in preparing client meeting materials, including investment reviews, manager research, fund analyses, presentations, and other client-facing deliverables
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative investment research across asset classes, investment managers, financial markets, and economic topics
  • Analyze investment performance, risk, fees, portfolio characteristics, and other relevant data to support advisor and client requests
  • Participate in internal preparation meetings and, as appropriate, client meetings; document follow-up items and help coordinate their completion
  • Respond to day-to-day investment requests from Financial Advisors and help prioritize projects and deadlines across multiple client relationships
  • Review data, calculations, presentations, and written materials for completeness, consistency, and accuracy before delivery
  • Use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to organize analyses and create clear, professional materials for client and internal use
  • Collaborate with colleagues across investment research, client service, and other departments to support broader client and firm initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve templates, workflows, documentation, and the overall efficiency and quality of client deliverables
  • May perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a four-year college degree; Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to obtain the FINRA Series 65 license within 90 days of hire date
  • Strong foundational understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, and portfolio construction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to analyze data and prepare clear, professional presentations

Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with defined contribution plans, particularly 401(k) and 403(b) plans
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of creating engaging collateral and effectively presenting complex investment concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Interest in developing skills in investment manager research, performance analysis, asset allocation, and client consulting
  • Comfortability with traveling for onsite manager or client meetings
  • Comfortability with current AI platforms, ability to leverage agentic solutions, and prompt engineering.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, eVestment, Investment Metrics and Morningstar Direct a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity, initiative, sound judgment, and a client-service mindset
