RESPONSIBILITIES
The Investigator will provide direct support to the Senior Director of Internal Affairs and is responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations into allegations of misconduct involving MTA Bridges and Tunnels (B&T) employees, contractors, or other individuals.

Investigative matters may include, but are not limited to, use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language (FADO), fraud, waste, abuse, theft, workplace violence, and criminal activity.

The incumbent will perform multifaceted investigative duties, including evidence collection, subject and witness interviews, statement documentation, and coordination with internal departments and external oversight or law enforcement agencies (e.g., CCRB, NYPD IAB, OIG, DoI , MTAPD).

The Investigator is responsible for preparing detailed investigative reports and case summaries, testifying in administrative and criminal proceedings, and presenting cases for potential prosecution when appropriate.

This position is also responsible for the administration of the B&T firearms program, which includes the intake and issuance of firearms to sworn law enforcement personnel, periodic inventory reviews, inspections of facility gun lockers, and participation in firearm destruction initiatives.

Additional duties include conducting facility security inspections, compliance reviews (including overtime, tow operations, time and leave), and assisting with investigatory initiatives as directed by senior management. The Investigator may also be deployed to perform executive protection and to support internal affairs or security operations across MTA B&T locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigations, Criminology, Forensic Sciences, Public Administration, Cybersecurity, Homeland Security, Security Management, Emergency Management, Project Management, Systems, or Technology or a related field.

Must have 5 ( five) years of field investigative, auditing and /or analytical experience involving complex and sensitive investigations.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.), and strong business administrative skills (i.e. presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).

Experience with case management systems, surveillance equipment, and investigative databases (e.g., E-Justice , LexisNexis, or WebCrims ).

Experience with unionized work environments and handling internal disciplinary processes.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of NYS Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, and Vehicle and Traffic Law.

In-depth knowledge of law enforcement procedures and statutes; security procedures; and investigative and interviewing techniques.

Understanding of electronic security hardware and software.

Understanding of auditing, budgeting and inventory software.

Understanding of toll equipment operating records; reconciliation procedures; and toll equipment data.

Knowledge of background check methodology and software.

Knowledge of digital forensics and associated processes.

Valid Driver's License in the State of New York (Must be maintained throughout employment).

Proficient in utilizing information systems and necessary communication software.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to conduct, direct, and control interviews and interrogations.

Ability to research, evaluate, and develop information.

Ability to interact with other individuals, maintaining a friendly and cooperative relationship.

Ability to testify at criminal, civil, and disciplinary hearings, imparting factual and cogent testimony.

Ability to perform surveys and physically work on the bridges and tunnels. This requires climbing ladders, mantling walls, crawling in tight spaces, etc ...

Must be able to work flexible hours, including night, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Ability to be on call 24/7 and report to any of MTA Bridges & Tunnels seven bridges and two tunnels locations as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

New York City residen cy ( to be maintained throughout employment).

Ability to obtain Special Patrolman status in New York City.
