Bring Innovative Aircraft Interiors to life as an Interior Design Engineer

Location: Savannah, GA | Schedule: 1st Shift, 7am to 5:30 pm | Pay Rate: $87.40 per hour

As an Interior Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing interior furnishings and amenities for new, custom, and in-service aircraft. From custom cabinetry and cabin components to seating and specialized systems, your engineering expertise will help create interiors that meet demanding requirements for functionality, quality, safety, manufacturability, and performance.

You'll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, procurement, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle-from concept and design through production and sustaining.

What you'll do
  • Design and develop aircraft interior furnishings and amenities, including:
    • Custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, vanities, closets, and storage compartments.
    • Cabin liners, window panels, passenger service units (PSUs), dado panels, and side ledges.
    • Seating, water/waste systems, oxygen systems, and other interior components.
  • Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using CATIA V5 and SmarTeam.
  • Design installations and airframe modifications to support interior components and meet applicable load requirements.
  • Perform Weight and Center of Gravity (CG) analysis for interior installations.
  • Conduct assembly, installation, similarity, mounting, and functionality analyses for aircraft configurations.
  • Develop designs that meet company standards, manufacturing requirements, quality expectations, and program schedules.
  • Support the product development process from concept through production and sustaining .
  • Partner with Operations, Suppliers, Procurement, Quality, and other engineering teams to resolve design and validation issues.
  • Support prototyping, reliability testing, and design validation activities.
  • Apply technical expertise to make engineering decisions and recommend improved methods that optimize product performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable aircraft requirements, standards, and industry developments.

What you bring

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical or aerospace engineering design experience.
  • Experience developing detailed models, drawings, and assemblies for complex products.
  • Understanding of aircraft interior design, installation, and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Experience taking designs from concept through production and sustaining.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions and work independently.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience designing aircraft interiors or cabin systems.
  • Experience with custom aircraft cabinetry, galleys, lavatories, vanities, closets, storage compartments, or cabin furnishings.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam.
  • Experience with primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Knowledge of Weight and Center of Gravity analysis.
  • Experience with Part 25 aircraft and familiarity with Part 135 requirements.
  • Experience with aircraft prototyping, reliability testing, and validation.
  • Aerospace manufacturing or aircraft completion/outfitting experience.

Pay Details: $87.40 per hour
