Job Summary:The
Integration and Automation Engineer designs, builds, and supports B2B and internal integration workflows that enable critical supply chain and finance operations. This role owns end-to-end delivery for assigned integrations and automations from requirements and design through testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT peers. The role also contributes to automation and AI-enabled workflow initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and increase operational visibility.
Essential Functions:- Primary focus: EDI and iPaaS-based integrations plus production support for business-critical workflows.
- Secondary focus: process automation (e.g., Power Automate); AI-enabled workflow components are explored and delivered as opportunities arise.
- Typical integration landscape includes ERP and WMS/3PL connectivity and external customer/supplier trading partners using EDI and APIs.
- Partner onboarding and changes require coordination across internal teams and external partners for testing, cutover, and hypercare support.
- May participate in an on-call or after-hours support rotation as needed for critical incidents and planned cutovers.
- Key interfaces include Supply Chain/Operations, Finance, ERP/WMS application owners, and external trading partners/3PLs.
Key Responsibilities- Work with internal and external customers to design, build, and support scalable B2B integrations for supply chain and finance processes.
- Implement and maintain EDI integrations end-to-end for key transactions (e.g., 850 Purchase Order, 856 ASN, 810 Invoice), including mapping, testing, acknowledgements, and partner onboarding.
- Build and support API-based integrations (REST) and data exchange patterns to enable reliable, secure system-to-system connectivity.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions (e.g., Power Automate) to streamline approvals, notifications, exception handling, and routine operational tasks.
- Collaborate on automation and emerging AI-enabled workflow opportunities by identifying use cases and helping implement controlled, supportable solutions.
- Follow change and release management practices for integration/automation deployments, including validation, stakeholder communication, and rollback planning.
- Monitor integration and automation health; troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across integration points, including appropriate access controls and credential handling.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (designs, runbooks, support procedures, and configuration records) for knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
- Partner with stakeholders and vendors to gather requirements, communicate status, and manage expectations through delivery and support.
Performance Measures- Reliability: integrations and automations meet agreed availability and error-rate targets for critical workflows.
- Operational excellence: timely triage and resolution of issues with documented root cause and preventative actions; improving MTTD/MTTR over time.
- Quality of delivery: changes deployed with appropriate testing evidence, peer review (where applicable), and clear release/support notes.
- Transaction accuracy and timeliness: EDI/API messages processed accurately with appropriate acknowledgements, retries, and exception handling.
- Automation value: measurable reductions in manual effort, cycle time, or rework attributable to delivered automations (tracked with stakeholders)
Preferred Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 6-9 years of relevant experience in integration engineering, automation engineering, or a closely related IT role.
- B2B/EDI: 5-8 years implementing and supporting EDI transactions (e.g., 850/856/810), including partner onboarding, testing, production troubleshooting, and cutover coordination.
- API integrations: 5-8 years building and supporting REST-based integrations, including authentication patterns, versioning, and robust error handling.
- iPaaS/platform: 4-7 years delivering integrations on a cloud integration platform in production (deployments, monitoring, alerting, and release practices).
- Automation: 4-7 years building workflow automations (e.g., Power Automate) with governance, exception handling, supportability, and measurable business outcomes.
- Strong SQL skills for analysis and reconciliation (queries, joins, and basic performance considerations).
- Experience with monitoring/observability for integrations (logging, alerting, and runbooks) to support reliable production operations.
- Working knowledge of integration security fundamentals (least privilege, credential/secret handling, and data protection).
- Experience working with common integration toolsets and practices (EDI mapping/testing, iPaaS, workflow automation, and SQL-based reconciliation).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience integrating with ERP and related business systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred).
- Experience with WMS/3PL systems and related integrations (e.g., Solochain, Infor, Blue Yonder).
- Exposure to AI-enabled workflow tools or approaches (e.g., intelligent document processing, classification, summarization) used in a controlled, business context.
- Proficiency in a scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for integration support and automation.
