Full Job Description
Anduril is seeking an Integration & Test Engineer, specializing in Structural Testing to join the Omen team at our Costa Mesa HQ. Omen is Anduril's hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that packs the endurance, payload, and mission flexibility of much larger airplanes into a novel runway-independent Group 3 platform. Omen can operate from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, providing true runway independence and freedom of maneuver across defense and civilian domains. Omen is the first tail-sitter aircraft with a mass-production contract, with an order of 50 systems representing a decisive investment that anchors production and accelerates the development of future systems. You will lead structural test planning and execution for all primary and secondary airframe structures - fuselage, wing, outer wing, stabilizers, nacelles, and control surfaces. All of this in a lean, high-ownership culture where you directly shape the product and operate at a velocity to fly new designs within months, not years. **WHAT YOU'LL DO** - Own all structural test activities from materials characterization through component and assembly-level static testing across increasingly mature integration environments - Develop, review, and execute right-sized structural test plans including coupon tests (tension, compression, bearing, pull-through), element tests, and full-scale structural tests, including frequency response characterization - Plan and execute structural proof load and ultimate load test programs for primary structure (wing, fuselage, nacelles, stabilizers) - Coordinate with structures analysis team to correlate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) predictions with test results and support model validation - Support characterization of nacelle loads, wing torsion, and aeroelastic interactions through surrogate platform testing - Focus on the safety of structural test environments, ensuring that potential harm to team members is eliminated by design - Implement and maintain processes for configuration control of structural test articles and fixtures - Develop instrumentation plans for structural tests including strain gauges, displacement transducers, load cells, and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) - Support airworthiness evidence packages by maintaining test data quality and traceability for structural substantiation **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES** - Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil, or related engineering discipline - 5+ years experience in structural testing of aerospace or automotive structures - Experience with composite materials testing including coupon, element, and full-scale structural test programs (static and dynamic) per relevant standards (e.g. ASTM) - Experience developing load test setups including hydraulic actuators, load introduction fixtures, and reaction structures - Familiarity with Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) and Structural Mode Interaction (SMI) characterization through test. - Knowledge of structural analysis methods (FEA correlation, stress analysis) and ability to interpret analysis predictions for test planning - Strong test engineering foundation - DAQ setup and operation, and proficiency with structural test instrumentation (strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers) - Extremely organized and detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication skills (effective for broad audiences) - A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture - Defense Industry background desirable - Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance in United States, United Kingdom, or Australia US Salary Range $146,000-$194,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
