Full Job Description

Opportunity

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking an experienced Intapp Applications Engineer to serve as the firm's primary technical owner for its risk and compliance technology ecosystem. This role is responsible for the administration, engineering, configuration, and strategic evolution of the full Intapp suite — including Intapp Open, Conflicts, Walls, Terms, Integration Builder, and Intapp Workspaces.

The Intapp Applications Engineer partners closely with the New Business Intake, Conflicts, and Legal Operations teams to deliver a stable, secure, and continuously improving platform. This position also leads the firm's migration of its on-premise Intapp environment to Intapp's cloud platform and plays a key role in identifying AI-enabled capabilities that advance firm risk management and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Ownership

  • Serve as the IT owner and subject matter expert for the full Intapp suite, including Open, Conflicts, Walls, Terms, Integration Builder, and Workspaces
  • Administer day-to-day platform operations: configuration, user and role management, data integrity, system health monitoring, and performance capacity planning
  • Manage and execute platform upgrades, patches, and release cycles in alignment with Intapp's release schedule and firm change management processes
  • Maintain accurate and current architecture diagrams, runbooks, support documentation, and configuration baselines
  • Oversee integration health between Intapp and adjacent systems including Elite 3E, document management, HR, and Active Directory

Engineering & Configuration

  • Design, build, and maintain workflows, forms, datasets, and rules within Intapp Open, Conflicts, and Walls using native configuration tools
  • Develop and maintain integration pipelines using Intapp Integration Builder; manage API, web service, FTP, and database integration endpoints
  • Configure and manage Intapp Workspaces to support matter-centric collaboration and lifecycle management across practice groups
  • Build and maintain SQL-based queries and reports to support operational reporting for the Conflicts and Intake teams
  • Develop, test, and deploy enhancements in partnership with business stakeholders, following the firm's SDLC, change management, and QA processes

Cloud Migration & Strategic Roadmap

  • Lead the planning and execution of the firm's migration from on-premise Intapp to the Intapp cloud platform, including scoping, dependency mapping, data migration, testing, and cutover
  • Evaluate and recommend new Intapp platform capabilities, AI features, and third-party integrations that address firm business needs
  • Build and maintain a multi-year Intapp platform roadmap aligned to firm IT and legal operations strategy
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Intapp's customer success, product, and engineering teams to advocate for firm requirements and influence product direction

Stakeholder Partnership & Delivery

  • Partner directly with Conflicts, Intake, Risk Management, and Legal Operations leadership to analyze business processes and translate requirements into platform solutions
  • Deliver clear, audience-appropriate recommendations to IT and business leadership on platform improvements, risks, and investment priorities
  • Support training development and QA efforts for end users and support staff on supported applications
  • Collaborate with IT Security on data governance, access control, and compliance requirements within the Intapp environment
  • Follow firm ITSM practices including Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management using the firm's ticketing platform

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of information technology experience, with 5+ years in enterprise application administration and engineering
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration and configuration experience with Intapp Conflicts, Walls, Terms, and/or Intapp Open in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Intapp Integration Builder or comparable integration/middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Power Automate)
  • Experience administering Intapp Workspaces or similar matter/workspace management solutions is strongly preferred
  • 3+ years supporting cloud or SaaS enterprise platforms, including migrations from on-premise to cloud

Technical Skills

  • Deep working knowledge of Intapp configuration tools including Forms, Workflows, Rules, Datasets, and Events
  • Proficiency with SQL Server, SQL query writing, and data reporting; familiarity with SSRS or comparable reporting tools
  • Working knowledge of integration patterns including REST/SOAP APIs, web services, FTP, and database-to-database connections
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 in the context of SaaS platform integrations

  • Experience with SDLC methodologies and project/release management tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Azure DevOps)
  • Awareness of AI and GenAI capabilities within legal technology platforms, including Intapp's AI feature set

Professional Competencies

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders including attorneys and firm leadership
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional IT and business teams
  • Critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills; comfortable with ambiguity and complex, multi-system dependencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at an AmLaw 100/200 firm or comparable professional services organization
