Full Job Description
Strategy Engineering is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is responsible for supporting and actively participating in detailed I&C design activities in a variety of off-shore and on-shore projects. As a successful candidate, you will support senior and mid-level engineers in the preparation of engineering deliverables such as Instrument Datasheets, Cable Schedules, Instrument Indexes, and I/O Lists. You will assist in the development of design drawings such as PLC Panel Layout Drawings, Junction Box Layout Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, and Instrument Installation Details, under guidance and supervision. In this position, you will interface with project managers and other disciplines that ensure accuracy and consistency across engineering packages, from the design to the construction phase. Responsibilities and Duties may include the following, pending project requirements: • Prepare Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, and Cable Schedules under supervision. • Assist with sizing calculations for Control Valves, Relief Valves, and Orifice Meters with guidance from senior engineers. • Specify common industry instrumentation such as Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Transmitters and gauges in accordance with project standards. • Review and provide input to P&IDs from an instrumentation and controls perspective with senior engineer oversight. • Work with a senior engineer and design and drafting team to produce instrumentation drawings such as Instrument Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Installation Details, Junction Box and PLC Panel Layout Drawings, and B.O.M. • Review vendor submittals and packages under supervision to verify compliance with project requirements. • Assist with Technical Bid Evaluations when required and appropriate for experience level. • Identify potential out-of-scope activities and coordinate with senior engineers or management prior to proceeding. Required Skills/Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program. • 0-5 years of related experience in Instrumentation and Controls (internship or co-op experience acceptable). • Basic familiarity with control valve and relief valve sizing concepts; experience with vendor software is a plus. • Exposure to tools such as Fisher Valve Specification Manager, Emerson PRV2Size, or FE-Sizer is preferred but not required. • EIT preferred but not required. • Ability and willingness to complete Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training as required by project or client needs. • Familiarity with common instrumentation vendors such as Rosemount, Fisher, Kimray, Norriseal, Anderson Greenwood, Wika, Ashcroft, and Enardo is a plus. • Able to efficiently use Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Proven ability to communicate well in written and verbal communications. • Good organizational skills, flexibility, and interpersonal skills are a must. • Basic awareness of industry standards such as API 520, API 521, API 12F, API 2000, and AGA No. 3.
