Job Description:This position supports instructional content development and technology integration in eLearning materials developed for the R3 Project at Algonquin College. The incumbent will design and develop learning activities using a variety of software applications to support learning of new business processes, the use of the new SIS, and new data concepts and organization.
The Instructional Designer will report to the Manager, eLearning and Development, and works closely with the eLearning Technical Lead, to streamline the efforts and time required of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Media Specialists, and other eLearning professionals, to effectively design and develop pedagogically sound learning activities that are reflective of current educational technology practices and learning theories.
Required Qualifications:- Minimum four (4) year degree in Educational Technology, Curriculum, Instructional Design, Education, Adult Teaching, or Higher Education. Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
- Minimum three (3) years of practical experience and expertise in instructional design, course development, and learning management systems
- Certificates or completed courses in computer graphics and multimedia software applications;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Captivate and other eLearning tools.
- Experience teaching others to use software is preferred.
- Experience in a post-secondary setting working with student information systems is an asset.
