THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

Supplemental Questionnaire: A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00:00 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing. DESCRIPTION

THE POSITION:

Under direction, Infrastructure Services Engineers manage various infrastructure technologies. Areas of responsibility can include staff supervision; network; servers; unified communications; Cloud-based services; database technologies; GIS; Enterprise Tools Administration; information security; or endpoint management; and perform other related duties as required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and experience supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies. They will also demonstrate strategic decision-making, strong project management, customer focus, communication, collaboration and planning and organizing skills.

THE VACANCIES:

We are filling multiple Infrastructure Services Engineer positions responsible for supporting and managing a variety of enterprise infrastructure technologies. Areas of responsibility may include networking, servers, unified communications, cloud services, databases, GIS, enterprise tools administration, DevOps, mainframe systems, information security, and endpoint management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EITHER I

Experience: The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the class of Senior Infrastructure Services Analyst or in an equivalent or higher-level class in the Alameda County classified service.

OR II

Experience: The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time increasingly responsible infrastructure experience (in one or more of the areas described in Definition section), that included design and implementation of enterprise systems requiring documentation and project management. (Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of experience.)

Special Requirements:

  1. Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation and to work after hours, weekends and holidays.
  2. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid class C driver's license may be required for some positions.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

The examination will consist of the following steps:

  1. A review of applicants' application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
  2. A review of the supplemental questionnaire to determine the best qualified. Those candidates considered the best qualified will move on to the final step in the examination process.
  3. An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates' final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises


Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of this recruitment.
