The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a full-time General Engineer, NH-0801-04 to serve as an Infrastructure Engineer for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Integrated Fires Command and Control (DIFC2) program, at the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia
Value of Position (VOP): $107,446 - 139,684 (without locality) based on experience. If your current basic salary is within the band, but above the stated VOP, your basic salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position.

In this position you will serve as the Infrastructure Engineer for the DAF Integrated Fires Command and Control (DIFC2) program and be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the foundational systems that enable large scale software development and mission system operations across IL5, IL6, and TS environments. Operating within the Department of the Air Force CloudWorks IaaS ecosystem, this role focuses on workload deployment, cross domain data integration, and application onboarding. The engineer will collaborate closely with software development teams and cybersecurity personnel service providers. Your mission is to oversee Air Force acquisition workforce policy and strategic planning as well as training, development & management of civilian and military acquisition resources. Organization goals: Develop and rapidly field operationally oriented capabilities of selected, Headquarters Air Force (Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff of the Air Force) directed projects in response to Combat Air Force and Combatant Commander needs. Conduct independent operational and technological assessments of Department of War (DoW) weapon system capabilities and vulnerabilities.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.

EDUCATION:
Degree: engineering or engineering technology. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a program that is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
Knowledge of development engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they relate to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management, including associated policies, concepts, and systems.
Knowledge of planning and program management principles; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and related engineering disciplines supporting sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs.

Ability to devise and evaluate design criteria, parameters, and interrelationships; assess the impact of new technologies on existing systems and processes; and gather, analyze, and synthesize information to develop and recommend effective solutions.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy-both orally and in writing-and to work effectively and professionally with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other government agencies.
HIGHLY DESIRED:
Mastery knowledge of DoW cybersecurity frameworks and 8570/8140 requirements, guiding accreditation and security architecture decisions
Advanced ability to architect, administer, and scale Kubernetes platforms, supported by senior level certifications (CKA, CKAD, Azure/AKS), and to guide enterprise adoption of cloud native engineering practices
This position is an Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Level and incumbent must meet appropriate certification requirements IAW the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) program guidelines..
