The Senior Security Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and scaling enterprise-grade security automation that reduces manual effort, minimizes operational noise, and strengthens cybersecurity operations. This role builds production-ready automation across identity, endpoint, cloud, network, and data security domains while ensuring automation is safe, auditable, and scalable. The ideal candidate is an experienced security engineer with strong programming skills, expertise in security workflows, and a passion for creating reusable automation frameworks that improve enterprise cyber defense capabilities.
Responsibilities:- Design and implement security automation workflows that reduce manual intervention across multiple security domains.
- Develop integrations using APIs and services to automate security actions while enforcing established guardrails.
- Build automation supporting detection, alert enrichment, suppression, containment, and response workflows.
- Integrate security automation with enterprise workflow and orchestration platforms where approvals or ticketing are required.
- Implement automation safety controls, including kill switches, dry-run/test modes, time-limited actions, and staged deployments across development, testing, and production environments.
- Ensure automation is observable and auditable by implementing comprehensive logging, monitoring, and correlation identifiers.
- Develop reusable automation frameworks, connectors, and patterns that can be leveraged across multiple security teams.
- Collaborate with security engineers, platform engineers, and data scientists to deliver integrated automation solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote security automation best practices throughout the organization.
- Continuously improve automation performance, reliability, and scalability while reducing analyst workload.
Education:- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience:Required- 6+ years of experience in security engineering or security automation.
- Strong experience designing and building production-grade security automation systems.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or similar.
- Experience working with APIs, enterprise services, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of:Security operations workflows
- Alert enrichment and suppression
- Incident containment and response patterns
- Experience designing automation that is safe, transparent, explainable, and auditable.
Preferred- Experience integrating automation across Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint, cloud, network, and data security platforms.
- Experience with workflow, ITSM, ticketing, or security orchestration platforms.
- Experience implementing rollback strategies, time-to-live (TTL) controls, and staged enforcement models.
- Experience with AI-assisted security workflows that leverage automated decision outputs.
- Experience developing dashboards, reporting, and metrics to measure automation effectiveness.
