Nature and Variety of Work

The Prince George's County Office of Information Technology is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an IT Coordinator (IT Project Coordinator 3G), grade G24 position, in the Asset Management Division.

About the Position
This is senior-level professional information technology coordination work supporting the Office of the County Executive (CEX). The incumbent assists CEX staff with technology-related needs by coordinating service requests, monitoring technology projects and assignments, maintaining equipment and access records, preparing documentation, and serves as the primary liaison for the Office of the County Executive (CEX). Manage all IT-related inquiries for the County Executive, Chief Administrative Officer, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief Administrative Officers, and Deputy Chiefs of Staff and their on-site administrative staff. Support includes off-site and remote assistance. On call arrangement for emergency issues from the County Executive. Work is performed independently under general supervision of the County Executive Office Manager, with support from the OIT Service Desk and is evaluated based on the successful completion of assignments, quality of customer service, and compliance with applicable County policies and standards.

About the Agency
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for all of the agencies, departments, and branches of County government. The OIT Service Desk provides information technology support and maintenance services to Prince George's County personnel. The Office of Information Technology is wholly dedicated to aligning technology efforts to support the strategic goals of the County. OIT will provide leadership, expertise, and resources in the ideation, development, and deployment of innovative technologies and streamlined processes to improve government efficiency, business interaction, and citizen access to government information and services.
Examples of Work

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for technology-related requests and coordinates hardware, software, network, telecommunications, mobile device, audiovisual, account-access, and other technology needs.
  • Assists with planning, organizing, and tracking technology projects by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, documenting business requirements, monitoring schedules and deliverables, and following up on outstanding assignments.
  • Maintains technology asset records; coordinates the receipt, assignment, transfer, replacement, and return of equipment; supports technology purchases; and monitors warranties, subscriptions, licenses, maintenance agreements, and replacement needs
  • Coordinates user accounts and system access, including changes resulting from employee or contractor transitions; communicates applicable technology and cybersecurity requirements; and reports lost equipment, suspected phishing, unauthorized access, and other security concerns through established channels.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties that may not be specifically listed but are within the general occupational category and responsibility level of the position.
  • Performs other related duties assigned in support of OIT executive leadership and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in information technology, business or public administration or a closely related field.
  • At least two (2) years of information technology experience.

Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A valid driver's license.

General Plan Information:
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.

A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.

Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.

The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.

The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.

After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
