Mayo Clinic Health System in Western Wisconsin is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Infectious Disease physician to join a collegial department. The primary location for this position is in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

This opportunity is 100% Infectious disease. The physician will provide patient care in the clinic and hospital settings and participate in the Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship activities in the primary site. MCHS in Western Wisconsin is a fully integrated care system and is run by a single governing structure thus helping to facilitate care coordination and patient follow-up. In this setting physicians will:
  • Community practice with academic segment working with family practice residents and occasional medical students.
  • Opportunity to work with most medical specialties in a setting where you see a wide variety of illnesses and disease states.
  • Provide physician support Infection Prevention and Control initiatives and antimicrobial stewardship activities along with infection preventionists and pharmacist respectively.


Hospital Practice: Consultations/Follow ups, no admissions. There is a large variety of infections: Endocarditis, orthopedic infections, pneumonias, zoonotic diseases, complicated soft tissue infections, endemic mycoses, tick-borne diseases. Minority of transplant-related infections. In addition, to a small HIV/AIDS practice.

Clinic Practice: Post-hospital follow-ups, travel clinic, and referrals from other physicians. We have IV antibiotic infusion center at our clinic with a skilled nurse supporting the practice in the infectious disease clinic.

IPAC and Antimicrobial Stewardship: Infection control with a group of 3 infection preventionists. Antimicrobial stewardship program with Pharmacy. No antimicrobial approval calls.

You will work as a part of the One Wisconsin Infectious Disease department and participate in a Mayo Clinic Enterprise committees.
