INFECTION CONTROL COORDINATOR

Full-Time Opportunity

Salary: $120K Plus full benefits.

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Coordinator for an immediate Full-Time onsite opportunity.

Under the supervision of the Director of Infection Control, the selected candidate will support the leadership, coordination, and daily operation of the hospital's Infection Prevention & Control Program. Responsibilities include healthcare-associated infection (HAI) surveillance, communicable disease reporting, outbreak investigation, infection prevention rounds, regulatory compliance, staff education, and performance improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, surveillance and analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient, visitor, and employee safety.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct surveillance and trend analysis related to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
  • Interpret surveillance findings and develop infection risk-reduction strategies
  • Investigate infection clusters and outbreaks to identify potential sources and transmission patterns
  • Participate in Infection Prevention & Control rounds throughout the organization
  • Develop and deliver infection prevention education programs for clinical staff, patients, and families
  • Educate healthcare personnel regarding immediate and long-term infection control interventions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support infection prevention and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission, and New York State infection prevention standards
  • Monitor cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and isolation practices throughout the facility
  • Report communicable diseases and required findings to local and state health departments
  • Analyze and communicate infection control data to leadership and operational teams
  • Support hospital-wide initiatives focused on patient safety and regulatory readiness

Requirements
