Senior Industrial Engineer

Woodward is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer for our Industrial Products Division in Fort Collins, Colorado. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer to join our team and drive efficiency, cost reduction, and process improvement in our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in productivity optimization, lean manufacturing, and data analysis, coupled with a proven ability to lead medium-scale projects and mentor team members. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative communication skills to enhance production flow, resource utilization, and overall operational performance.

Estimated annual base pay: $93,000-$125,000

Key Responsibilities:
    • Special Process Ownership: Serve as the technical authority for assigned special processes, including PVD coating, 10-stage wash systems, and ALD heat treat, ensuring process stability, capability, and compliance with engineering requirements.
    • Process Development and Qualification: Develop, validate, qualify, and implement special manufacturing processes, equipment, and controls to support new product introduction, production readiness, and customer requirements.
    • Production Support and Continuous Improvement: Provide day-to-day manufacturing support by troubleshooting process issues, improving yield, throughput, and quality, and driving sustainable process capability improvements.
    • Root Cause Investigation and Corrective Action: Lead complex investigations into product and process nonconformances using structured problem-solving tools, implementing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
    • Supplier and Compliance Management: Partner with internal and external suppliers to ensure special process compliance with customer, industry, regulatory, and Woodward requirements through audits, process reviews, and performance monitoring

Key Skills:
    • Special Process Expertise: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of special manufacturing processes such as heat treat, coating technologies, chemical processing, cleaning systems, and other controlled manufacturing processes.
    • Process Qualification and Validation: Lead process qualification activities including capability studies, parameter optimization, equipment validation, and production readiness assessments.
    • Statistical Analysis and Process Control: Utilize SPC, process capability analysis, DOE, and data-driven methodologies to monitor performance and improve process stability.
    • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving: Apply advanced problem-solving techniques such as 8D, A3, Six Sigma, and Fault Tree Analysis to resolve complex manufacturing and quality issues.
    • Quality Systems and Compliance: Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industrial standards, internal quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
    • Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Drive Lean initiatives that improve yield, reduce variation, eliminate waste, and increase process efficiency.
    • APQP and Risk Management: Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, process specifications, and validation documentation for special processes.
    • Equipment and Technology Management: Support selection, commissioning, maintenance strategies, and optimization of specialized manufacturing equipment and processing systems.
    • Supplier Technical Oversight: Evaluate supplier capabilities, support audits, review process controls, and drive corrective actions to ensure consistent process performance.
    • Communication and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively communicate technical information and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and customers to achieve business objectives.
