Full Job Description
Location: Elk Valley, BC
Base Rate: $62.50 per hour
OT: $93.75 per hour
Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12-hour days
Night Shift Premium: $1.25/hr.
Accommodations: Shared housing provided at no cost to the employee
Flights Paid: Employer covers flights to remote job sites from major Canadian airports
Tools Provided: Truck and all necessary tools supplied by the company
Travel Time: Paid up to 8 hours at $62.50 per hour on travel days
Meal Allowance: $60 per day

We are hiring an experienced licensed Industrial Electrician to perform field service, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy mining and construction equipment. This is a rotational field-service opportunity working a 14-days-on, 14-days-off schedule. The successful Electrician will troubleshoot and repair heavy mining equipment using company-provided tools while supporting customer operations safely and professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on electric mining equipment, including drills, shovels, haul trucks, and other related mining equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues on high-voltage cable systems, AC/DC drives, high-voltage systems, and related electrical components.
  • Work through electrical systems to identify root causes and safely return mining equipment to production.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings related to mining equipment systems and components.
  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Support mast exchanges, shutdowns, project work, and ongoing site coverage.
  • Work closely with mechanics and other trades to ensure seamless equipment operation.
  • Assist with mechanical work and become involved in equipment repairs when required.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Related job requirements as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Licensed electrician in the province in which the work is being performed. Red Seal certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with high-voltage cable systems, AC/DC drives, and high-voltage systems.
  • 3-5 years of mining experience preferred.
  • Experience working with brands such as CAT, Komatsu, Bucyrus, P&H, and other mining equipment preferred.
  • Comfortable approaching electric mining equipment, working through the electrical systems, finding the root cause, and safely getting the machine back into production.
  • Strong field troubleshooting and industrial electrical experience.
  • Experience with electric surface drills, electric and hydraulic shovels, haul trucks, and other related mining equipment is an asset.
  • Electric haul truck experience is an asset but is not the primary requirement for this position.
  • Willingness to assist with mechanical work and work closely with mechanics and other trades.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
  • Interest in a long-term opportunity supporting additional projects and ongoing site coverage.

All Successful Candidates Must:
  • Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Provide at least two references from previous direct supervisors.
  • Complete a criminal record check. Minor or unrelated offences will not necessarily disqualify a candidate and will be reviewed individually.
  • Provide a five-year driver's abstract that is acceptable for the position. Minor infractions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Successfully complete an eight-panel drug test, including marijuana, and an alcohol breath test.
  • Be seeking direct employment. Subcontractor opportunities are not available for this position.
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be able to easily lift up to 50 lbs.
