Position Overview

International is looking to add an Industrial Construction Manager to their team in San Antonio!

 

The Industrial Construction Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design coordination, budgeting, and execution of capital construction and facility projects across North America.

 

This role manages projects from early feasibility through commissioning and turnover, ensuring alignment with company standards, safety requirements, insurer criteria, and operational objectives.

 

The Industrial Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, design partners, contractors, and regulatory authorities to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with Operations, Manufacturing, IT, EHS, and Facilities teams
  • Lead building space planning, layout coordination, and facility expansions
  • Present project updates, risks, and financial status to senior leadership
  • Obtains business partner’s approval of designs, as well as any change orders that may occur
  • Prepare internal and external reports on project performance

Project Planning & Pre-Construction

  • Works with the business units for their construction needs
  • Works with authorities having jurisdiction to procure all necessary licenses and construction permits
  • Lead feasibility studies, site assessments, and constructability reviews for facility projects
  • Partner with Architecture & Engineering teams during design development
  • Develop and define detailed Scopes of Work (SOW) aligned with business requirements and ensuring all company, safety, regulatory, and insurer standards are met
  • Facilitate value engineering initiatives to optimize cost and performance
  • Support procurement strategy and contractor prequalification
  • Manages bid process for all construction projects in conjunction with Procurement

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Develop project budgets and capital authorization packages (CAPEX)
  • Prepare cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and soft costs
  • Track project expenditures and provide cost-to-complete forecasting
  • Manage contingencies and identify cost risk mitigation strategies
  • Review, approve, and process contractor invoices for payment

Scheduling & Project Controls

  • Develop and maintain detailed master project schedules
  • Monitor critical path activities and milestone deliverables
  • Implement recovery plans to address schedule delays
  • Utilize scheduling and project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore)

Construction Execution

  • Oversee all onsite and offsite construction activities
  • Coordinate and direct general contractors, subcontractors, and trades
  • Monitor daily work progress and ensure adherence to plans and specifications
  • Select and manage tools, materials, and equipment procurement as needed
  • Ensure contractual conditions of performance are met

Regulatory Compliance

  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all projects
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local codes, and corporate safety policies
  • Align projects with insurer requirements (e.g., FM Global or equivalent)
  • Conduct site safety reviews and support incident prevention initiatives

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Support contract negotiation and administration for construction services
  • Manage change orders, claims avoidance, and dispute resolution
  • Evaluate contractor performance against contractual obligations

Permitting & Approvals

  • Obtain and manage all required permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals
  • Coordinate inspections and jurisdictional authority reviews

Commissioning & Project Closeout

  • Oversee system commissioning and facility start-up activities
  • Manage punch list completion and final quality inspections
  • Ensure delivery of as-built drawings and O&M manuals
  • Coordinate project turnover to operations and warranty management

Risk Management & Quality Assurance

  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks
  • Ensure quality construction standards and proper building techniques
  • Implement corrective actions when deviations occur
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of industrial construction or project management experience

OR

  • Master's degree and at least 4 years of industrial construction or project management experience

OR

  • At least 8 years of industrial construction or project management experience

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
