Full Job Description
The Role We're looking for an Indirect Tax Senior Manager to partner closely with the business and ensure Whop's compliance across sales & use tax, VAT, and other indirect or transactional tax obligations as the company grows in scale, complexity, and global reach.

This role reports directly to the Director of Tax and supports the execution and scaling of Whop's global indirect tax strategy. As an early member of the tax team, you will play a key role in shaping how Whop approaches indirect taxation across products, jurisdictions, and emerging business models.

You will work closely with the Director of Tax to define and operationalize tax strategy for product launches and iterations, stay current on U.S. and global indirect tax developments, perform nexus and exposure analysis, support registrations, evaluate product and service taxability, advise on marketplace facilitator rules, and navigate evolving digital services and transaction tax regimes.

What You'll Do
  • Own indirect tax complianceEnsure accurate compliance across all relevant jurisdictions, including U.S. sales & use tax and international VAT regimes. This includes managing nexus analysis, registrations, filings, and reconciliations, while staying ahead of regulatory changes and evolving product and service taxability rules.
  • Partner with Engineering on tax systemsCollaborate with Engineering to design, implement, and optimize indirect tax automation, data flows, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Support international expansionAdvise on indirect tax implications of entering new markets, including OSS, IOSS, DST, and other emerging or similar regimes, ensuring compliant and scalable expansion into new jurisdictions.
  • Manage audits and controversySupport and manage indirect tax audits, notices, and inquiries with a practical, risk-based approach. Coordinate with external advisors as needed to resolve issues efficiently and mitigate exposure.
  • Own customer indirect tax inquiriesAct as a point of contact for customer inquiries related to indirect tax, including sales & use tax, VAT, product taxability, and other compliance-related questions, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Drive process improvement and scalabilityBuild and document scalable processes, controls, and workflows that support Whop's growth in transaction volume, jurisdictions, and product complexity.

Who You Are
  • 8+ years of experience in indirect tax, with deep hands-on expertise in U.S. sales & use tax and international indirect tax
  • Strong understanding of marketplace facilitator laws, digital product taxability, and platform business models
  • Experience with tax automation platforms
  • Familiarity with international indirect tax regimes, including EU VAT, OSS/IOSS, UK VAT, and digital services taxes
  • Proven ability to manage multi-jurisdiction compliance programs, including registrations, filings, and audits
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Product, and Engineering to evaluate and address indirect tax implications

The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 annually, with final compensation determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
