The Index Governance Analyst is essential to the day-to-day administration of VettaFi’s benchmark control framework. Operating across our $87 billion global index suite (covering equity, factor, thematic, and fixed-income assets), this role focuses on maintaining our extensive library of policies and methodologies, tracking compliance attestations, and ensuring all governance activities are impeccably documented for audit trails. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity to gain deep exposure to index product development, quantitative regulatory compliance, and benchmark operations.
Key Responsibilities
Governance Administration: Manage the central repository of VettaFi’s governance documents, ensuring version control and annual review tracking of Index Governance policies.
Client Engagement & Support: Assist in client due diligence processes by managing information requests, clarifying index methodology details, and ensuring timely responses to inquiries from external stakeholders.
Operational Index Review: Participate in and provide operational support for formal index reviews to verify that indexes continue to meet their original design and market representation.
Methodology Development & Maintenance: Support the drafting and creation of new index methodologies and coordinate the formal publishing and maintenance of all public-facing methodology documents on the corporate website.
Compliance & Regulatory Reporting: Assist in ensuring compliance with IOSCO and benchmark reporting requirements. Act as a point of contact for internal/external stakeholders, including assisting the Head of Index Governance in preparing documentation and responses for regulatory inquiries (e.g., SEC).
Administrative Oversight: Manage the collection, logging, and tracking of annual employee training, compliance attestations regarding personal trading, and conflict disclosures.
Operational Strategy: Partner with our internal technology provider to assist the Head of Index Governance in the annual review of operational requirements.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Communications degree is acceptable with corresponding financial market coursework or experience.
Relevant Experience: 1–2 years of experience (or a recent graduate with relevant internships) in financial indexing, structured products, portfolio analysis, or research.
Analytical Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, synthesize information, and provide actionable recommendations.
Growth Mindset: A curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, with a strong desire to develop expertise in index construction, financial benchmarks, and evolving global regulatory frameworks.
Documentation Proficiency: Expertise in writing clear, concise reports that convey complex information in an understandable manner.
Organizational Skills: Excellent time management, prioritization, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences. Comfort and confidence in speaking to groups, including both internal teams and external stakeholders or clients, including those unfamiliar with the subject matter.
Team-Oriented: A highly motivated team player who demonstrates integrity and courage in all endeavors.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where priorities may shift based on regulatory updates.
Preferred Qualifications:
Programming Skills: Familiarity with programming languages/tools such as SQL, VBA, Matlab, Python, and other database query tools.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of financial indexes, exchange-traded products, and structured products and related global regulations.
This role is hybrid (3 days in the office/week) - based in New York City, NY.
Salary Range: $85,000K/year - $95,000K/year USD
