Position OverviewAs an Independent Technology Risk Advisor within PNC's Independent Technology Risk Management organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.
The role focuses on ensuring technology architecture and infrastructure align with regulatory standards, internal policies, and business objectives while maintaining performance, security, and scalability. Responsibilities include assessing risks across data centers, cloud environments, and enterprise networks; reviewing SDLC, DevOps, and deployment practices; and overseeing technology changes under ITIL principles. The position also involves evaluating programs and engineering teams using KRIs/KPIs, fostering strong governance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage infrastructure risk. Additionally, staying current with emerging technologies and serving as a trusted advisor to technology teams are essential aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure architecture standards, designs, and strategies comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business objectives, while delivering performance, high availability, security, and scalability.
• Assess technology infrastructure-including data centers, cloud environments, enterprise networks, virtualization, and asset/configuration management-to identify risks and validate controls.
• Review SDLC methodologies, coding practices, DevOps, deployment, and testing standards to confirm technology meets business needs without introducing security or operational risks.
• Oversee technology changes and incidents, ensuring adherence to ITIL principles.
• Evaluate technology programs and engineering teams using KRIs/KPIs, ensuring robust governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (program owners, engineering, system managers, governance groups) to maintain strong infrastructure risk management.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend adoption where beneficial.
• Serve as a trusted partner and advisor to technology teams.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of technical experience in relevant technologies, data center management, and network configuration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud development and configuration management.
• Experience evaluating architecture standards and design patterns.
• Familiarity with SDLC methodologies, FFIEC and ITIL guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Hands-on experience in software development, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting.

Job Description- Supports Independent Technology Risk Management (ITRM) in planning and executing the ITRM program and corresponding communication strategies. Leverages subject matter expertise in technology environments (infrastructure, data, information security, MIS and governance) along with technology governance and control frameworks to oversee and challenge first lines ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technology and other associated risks. Manages relationships with Technology and the Lines of Business to ensure that technology and other associated risk issues are monitored and communicated through the appropriate levels of management.
- Coordinates and implements ITRM program to meet regulatory expectations and manage risks within PNCs risk appetite.
- Coordinates the timely and proper execution of the ITRM program within and across the lines of business. Includes consultation to execute the ITRM program components.
- Leverages subject matter expertise in technology environments (infrastructure, data, information security, MIS and governance) and risk expertise while working with the businesses and other risk partners (e.g., Compliance, Security, Technology, etc.) to proactively identify risk exposures across PNC.
- Leverages subject matter expertise in and technology governance and control frameworks to challenge business self-assessment results (including new initiatives, business as usual activities, and risk management program) and reviews and reports applicable independent analyses.
- Translates security and threat intelligence to the current technology and control environments and develops qualitative and quantitative risk analytics approaches to independently evaluate technology and other associated security risks.
