IDOL Support Engineer - Role Overview
Onsite in Washington, DC- hybrid work environment
The IDOL Support Engineer serves as the primary technical resource supporting the eLibrary platform powered by OpenText/Micro Focus IDOL (Knowledge Discovery) technology. This role is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, optimizing, and modernizing enterprise search and content discovery capabilities while ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of the IDOL environment.
The engineer works closely with customer stakeholders, developers, and infrastructure teams to support system upgrades, cloud and containerization initiatives, search optimization efforts, metadata and entity extraction enhancements, and implementation of advanced search and AI-driven capabilities. The position also provides technical guidance on integrating IDOL APIs and new functionality into customer-facing applications while troubleshooting complex search, ingestion, and retrieval challenges.
Key areas of focus include IDOL platform administration, search performance tuning, Knowledge Discovery upgrades, containerized deployments, metadata optimization, AI-enabled search capabilities, and collaboration with development teams to enhance the overall user experience of the eLibrary system.
