Full Job Description
Position Title: Hybrid Inside Claims Examiner

Salary Range: $84,000-$90,000 / Year DOE

Join a stable, mission-driven insurance organization as an Inside Claims Examiner, managing predominantly residential property claims from initial assignment through final settlement or denial. You'll evaluate coverage, review adjuster reports, establish reserves, authorize payments, and work directly with independent adjusters, policyholders, producers, and counsel to keep claims moving accurately and efficiently. This role is built for an experienced property claims professional who combines strong technical judgment with patience, organization and the ability to clearly guide people through the claims process, especially when circumstances are difficult or emotionally charged.

Responsibilities
  • Manage property claims from initial notice of loss and assignment through final settlement, payment or denial
  • Review policies, loss notices and supporting documentation to verify coverage and determine appropriate claim handling
  • Evaluate independent adjuster reports, establish accurate reserves and authorize indemnity, expense and expert payments within defined authority
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to independent adjusters to ensure adherence to established claims policies and practices
  • Review and approve proofs of loss and supporting documentation while maintaining accurate file controls and claim diaries
  • Communicate clearly with claimants, producers, adjusters, and defense counsel regarding coverage, claim status, and technical questions
  • Support quality initiatives, subrogation and arbitration while providing technical guidance to less experienced claims staff

Requirements
  • 4-6+ years of experience in property claims operations, including at least 2 years of outside property adjusting experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong residential property claims experience with the ability to confidently manage approximately 40 or more pending claims
  • Knowledge of building construction, property damage assessment, cost estimating practices, and applicable unfair claims practices requirements
  • Completion of AIC 35 Property Claim Adjusting and IIA Introduction to Claims coursework or equivalent insurance carrier training
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, computerized estimating tools, Xactimate and Simsol
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills with the ability to explain complex claims decisions clearly and professionally
