Overview

The Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineer designs, deploys, integrates, and sustains secure hybrid-cloud platform capabilities supporting Department of War (DoW) mission environments. The role bridges on-premises infrastructure with multiple cloud ecosystems and focuses on reusable platform services, automation, reliability, security, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer and operate hybrid-cloud platforms spanning on-premises data centers and authorized cloud environments, including Azure and AWS where applicable.
  • Design and implement platform services for compute, storage, networking, identity, containerization, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and configuration management.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation using technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Develop standardized, reusable landing-zone and platform patterns that can be deployed consistently across mission environments.
  • Integrate cloud platforms with enterprise identity, PKI, DNS, logging, SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and other DoW enterprise services.
  • Support containerized and Kubernetes-based workloads, including cluster configuration, ingress, storage, networking, secrets, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement secure DevSecOps pipelines and automated testing, compliance validation, patching, and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex cross-domain infrastructure issues involving network connectivity, performance, identity, storage, compute, and application dependencies.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, data, software, network, and mission teams to ensure platform services satisfy mission and security requirements.
  • Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.
  • Create, manage, and monitor Azure storage solutions (Blob, File, Queue). Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field (or equivalent experience) and 6+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider and preferably both Azure and AWS.
  • Experience with virtualization, enterprise storage, networking, Linux and Windows administration, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, CI/CD, source control, and configuration management.
  • Understanding of cloud security, Zero Trust principles, identity and access management, encryption, logging, vulnerability management, and compliance controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems-integration skills in complex enterprise or mission environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders.
  • Must reside within a75-mile radius ofRedstone Arsenal in Huntsville ALor be willing to relocate prior to starting date.
  • Must have (or be able to have before starting):

    • CompTIA Security+ CE, or other approved 8570 IAT Level II certification.
    • Cloud certification such as: Microsoft AZ900 (Azure Fundamentals), Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, CCSP, GCSA or other equivalent Cloud certifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance. An active clearance will be required to start.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoW, DoD, intelligence-community, or other federal mission environments.
  • Experience with IL4/IL5/IL6 or equivalent controlled cloud environments and federal security authorization processes.
  • Relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, or security certifications.
  • Experience with disconnected, constrained, or edge environments and hybrid data-center modernization.
  • Preferred experience with SPECTRO Cloud, including deployment, configuration, administration, and integration of SPECTRO Cloud capabilities within hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Preferred experience architecting, deploying, and integrating SPECTRO Cloud as part of secure hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including platform orchestration, workload management, automation, and integration with government mission systems.
