Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

The Field Service Technician reports into the Grid Technology Service Substation Upgrades business. Field Service Technicians are responsible for the environmentally safe performance of in-service high voltage substations. Execute technical field assignments involving the monitoring, service, and/or repair of substation equipment. May recommend corrective measures to improve field service operations and customer service. May be assigned other work, individually, or as part of a larger electrical substation / power plant project. Reports directly to Field Service Manager.

Often requires extensive travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions. The successful applicant will be required to be on site 3 days a week, 10hrs per day and be on call 24/7 with a 1-2hr on site response time in the event of an emergency. If a problem occurs or alarm, the technician will notify Client personnel, O&M as needed and collaborate/troubleshoot with Siemens Engineering Subject Matter Expert on active alarms and or problem at hand.

  • Supervise and coordinate service projects at job sites, managing contractors and field teams.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, fault analysis, and equipment repair using your knowledge and experience.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance performance, customer satisfaction, and safety compliance.
  • Communicate professionally regarding safety, security, environmental incidents, or near misses, and follow/enforce Siemens EHS policies.
  • Complete time, expense, and field service job reports using online tools or software.
  • Collaborate with customers and project partners to execute work safely, efficiently, and within scope, supporting proposals, planning, and workforce requirements.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in a timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.

What You Bring

  • Prior experience in substation installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair preferred, training available for the right candidate.
  • OHSA 30hr certification and experience working on construction sites.
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, team-oriented, and dedicated.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% domestically or as required by projects.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
