About the RoleAs an HR Manager at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in driving employee engagement, supporting HR operations, and ensuring compliance across the plant. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and strategic decision-making skills, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to talent development, workforce planning, and positive employee relations.
You will collaborate with plant leadership, HR colleagues, union committees, and teammates, ensuring HR programs and policies are effectively implemented and that employee relations and engagement are maintained. This is an on-site role located in Rochelle, IL.

What You'll Do- Serve as the HR business partner for compensation, employee engagement, employee relations, compliance, metrics, staffing, and performance management programs.
- Identify staffing needs and collaborate with managers and the talent acquisition team to support candidate selection and successful onboarding of new teammates.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and analytics to help leaders make talent decisions and promote employee engagement and positive employee relations.
- Partner with union bargaining committees to manage labor relations and contract administration.
- Monitor compliance with state and federally mandated leave of absence and accommodation programs, including FMLA, USERRA, and ADA.
- Analyze training needs and develop salaried and hourly employee development plans.
- Develop and facilitate training programs, including orientation and safety-related training.
- Organize culture-enhancing events to strengthen teammate engagement.
- Participate in and lead projects and special initiatives within and outside the Human Resources function.
- Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience supporting Human Resources in a collectively bargained environment preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems, preferably Workday.
- Strong knowledge of HR and safety laws, including Affirmative Action, EEOC requirements, DOL regulations, FMLA, USERRA, ADA, and OSHA.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize urgent and high-impact initiatives.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
- Goal-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to make strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain an on-site presence to support manufacturing teammates.

Compensation & BenefitsBelow is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.
Base Salary Range:
$73,000-$100,000 USDAdditional compensation may include:
• Performance-based yearly merit increase
• Profit-sharing bonus opportunities
