Full Job Description
This position is responsible for the direction of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Training (HSEST) programs and policies for the Evansville Ohara facility. This position is also responsible for compliance with all local, state and federal health, safety and environmental regulations and is the interface for the site with all HSE regulatory agencies. The incumbent in this position is the management representative for the site's ISO 14001 certification. And, the incumbent is also responsible for management of security, training and emergency response for the EOO site. The HSE Manager is a member of the site leadership team and is responsible for the professional development and career advancement of his/her direct report. This position is accountable for management of costs related to HSE programs and initiatives. #LI-RH1 A Day in the Life • Leads the HSEST function to ensure continuous improvement of the HSEST programs and performance for the EOO Site. • Develops and recommends appropriate site HSEST strategies, policies, procedures, and management systems for assuring compliance to regulatory requirements and company policies. Works with Operations and Technical to implement these policies and procedures to ensure minimal disruption of desired business results. • Drives continuous improvement and site performance improvement through Operational Excellence standards including; focus on gap closure improvement plan, work process and management system development, enhancing learning from experience and rigorous LRP process. • Ensures the HSE programs and practices are consistent with LyondellBasell's Operational Excellence Standards and in compliance with local, state and federal requirements. • Proactively develops and deploys HSE programs to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses, and prevent harm to the environment. • Maintain the site ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and certification • Maintain site Environmental permitting activities • Acts as the champion to ensure proper investigation and follow-up is taken on safety concerns, near misses and incidents. • Addresses all internal and external customer inquiries and reporting requirements regarding health, safety, environmental and security matters. • Facilitates employee involvement, awareness, and continuous improvement in all LyondellBasell safety programs. • Builds relationships and maintains on-going communications with plant staff and manufacturing personnel to develop and maintain a collaborative work environment across the site. • Works with Operations, Corporate HSE, and Legal organizations to share information on the health, safety and environmental performance and issues at the site. Develops strategies for addressing HSE requirements, shares intelligence from the agencies and industry, and shares Best Practice processes from across the industry. Develops and implements business driven and cost-effective asset protection strategies: Works with direct reports and their staffs to develop You Bring This Value • B.S. Degree in engineering, relevant sciences or specific HSE discipline is preferred. • The individual should possess or have the ability to gain thorough knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard • Recommend at least 6 + years of relevant HSE and preferred leadership experience working in the manufacturing or equivalent industry. • Working knowledge of regulatory processes applicable to a plant operation. • Experience representing a company to the regulatory agency(ies). • Candidate must have strong leadership skills including effective communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all departments and levels of the organization. • Possesses a high level of integrity and respect in order to motivate and lead their team • Other Critical Competencies include strategic leadership, driving improvement in others, champion of change, managing situationally, influence management, systemic thinking and managing business improvement.
