Job DescriptionAs an HSE Manager here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's health, safety, and environmental efforts. You will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety for employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and the implementation of best practices that support operational excellence and sustainable business performance.
You will report directly to our
Site Director and Matrix to the Regional HSE Director and work out of our Northford, CT location on a
full-time on-site work schedule.
In this role, you will impact our organization by overseeing the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs that ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards. As Northford advances as a
Honeywell Technologies Flagship Site, you will play a critical leadership role in driving a culture of safety excellence, leadership accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Your ability to influence stakeholders and integrate HSE principles into business processes and decision-making will help establish Northford as a benchmark for world-class HSE performance across Honeywell Technologies.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the site's HSE strategy in support of Northford's vision as a Honeywell Technologies Flagship Site.
- Drive site-wide HSE culture change through employee engagement, leadership accountability, and proactive risk management at all levels of the organization.
- Partner with site leadership to embed safety, health, and environmental stewardship into daily operations, decision-making, and business objectives.
- Champion Honeywell's HSE Management System and continuous improvement efforts to achieve world-class HSE performance.
- Develop and execute initiatives that strengthen employee ownership, hazard recognition, reporting, learning, and continuous improvement across the site.
- Establish best practices that position Northford as a model for HSE excellence within Honeywell Technologies.
- Assist in developing and implementing HSE strategies that align with the organization's mission, ensuring a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility.
- Lead and manage a team of HSE professionals, including engineers, specialists, and support staff, ensuring efficient and effective HSE practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, permits, and certifications. Stay current on changing regulations and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement safety measures, training, and policies to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses in the workplace.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for HSE-related incidents, including accidents and environmental emergencies.
- Support management of the HSE budget, including resource allocation and cost-effective solutions that maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Contribute to environmental sustainability by implementing environmentally responsible practices and minimizing the environmental impact of the organization's operations.
- Establish and enforce quality and performance standards for HSE programs through regular inspections, audits, and performance assessments.
- Collaborate with internal departments, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, training, and education on HSE matters.
QualificationsYOU MUST HAVE- 6+ years of experience in health, safety, environmental, or related operational leadership roles.
- Leadership and team management skills with the ability to effectively coach and develop HSE professionals.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Experience with risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
- Experience driving regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to influence leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
WE VALUE- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- ASP (Associate Safety Professional) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
- Experience supporting, maintaining, or leading OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) initiatives.
- Experience working at or supporting VPP Star-certified sites.
- Demonstrated success leading HSE culture transformation and organizational change initiatives.
- Proven ability to influence leaders and employees at all levels to drive sustainable safety performance improvements.
- Experience implementing world-class safety management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong employee engagement, coaching, and leadership development capabilities.
- Passion for promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Strong business acumen and ability to align HSE programs with organizational goals.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

annual base salary range for this position is $132,000 - $165,500. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
