Full Job Description
We are looking to hire an HSE Advisor, Program Development based out of our Downtown Calgary office.

The HSE Advisor, Program Development is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of CDN's Health and Safety policies and programs. This position works closely with all levels of management and employees to ensure consistent promotion and utilization of safe work practices. In addition, the HSE Advisor, Program Management advises on safety standards, regulations, and legislative compliance and makes recommendations to improve the operational efficiency of the HSE department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, design, develop and evaluate health & safety policies and programs that conform to industry standards, and federal provincial and local regulations.
  • In partnership with the Manager, HSE; Program Development, implement, communicate and execute new or updated programs across the organization.
  • Update the Health & Safety Management System in relation to updated legislation as required.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
  • Provide guidance to field personnel via safety briefings.
  • Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
  • Work in conjunction with leadership on the development, implementation and management of the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide program training to HSE team and management teams to ensure the acceptance, understanding and compliance of health and safety policies and procedures throughout the organization.
  • Suggest improvements in tracking and reporting of metrics.
  • Produce and communicate health and safety reports on a regular basis.
  • Lead and/or participate in various HSE related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Related University degree, college diploma, and/or trade certification and typically 7 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is required.
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safety best practices.
  • Understanding of current Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, bulletins and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attentive to detail and demonstrated organizational skills.
