HR Systems Security Analyst - THIS ROLE IS REMOTE

Job Summary: The HR Systems Security Analyst supports the design, maintenance, and day to day management of security for Workday and related HR systems. This role helps review access needs, maintain security configurations, and ensure compliance with internal policies. The analyst works closely with HR Technology, business partners, and external vendors to ensure security changes are accurate, documented, and aligned with governance standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Enterprise Security Assessment & Redesign

  • Coordinate the enterprise-wide assessment of existing Workday security in partnership with an AMS provider, including roles, domains, business process security policies, and access assignments.
  • Review, validate, and approve security designs and configurations to ensure alignment with internal policies and risk standards.
  • Conduct collaborative UAT sessions with business partners with sign off before implementation to production

Security Support & Maintenance

  • Assist with reviewing and updating Workday security roles, domain access, and business process security.
  • Maintain security design standards and follow established governance guidelines.
  • Support testing and validation of security changes before deployment.

Access Governance & Compliance

  • Perform or oversee periodic access reviews, segregation-of-duties assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Ensure security controls remain modern and compliant, utilizing best practices and Kainos Smart Compliance.

Change & Release Oversight

  • Review security impacts for system updates, enhancements, and Workday releases.
  • Validate security configurations during testing cycles.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to ensure changes meet quality and documentation requirements.

Risk Management & Issue Resolution

  • Troubleshoot security related issues and escalate when needed.
  • Assist in identifying access risks and recommending corrective actions.

Stakeholder Partnership & Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Technology, HR Operations, Payroll, IT, and Audit stakeholders on security-related matters.
  • Provide guidance on security best practices, access design, and risk trade-offs.
  • Balance strong security controls with operational efficiency.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain security documentation, role catalogs, and governance artifacts.
  • Ensure security documentation meets internal standards and audit requirements.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in HR systems security, access governance, or identity and access management.
  • Hands on experience with Workday security configuration.
  • Experience working with HR, IT, or Audit partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Workday security architecture, including security roles, domains, business process security policies, user access administration, and role-based security concepts.
  • Knowledge of access governance, segregation-of-duties principles, audit controls, risk management practices, and security compliance standards within HRIS environments.
  • Skill in reviewing, testing, validating, and maintaining Workday security configurations, access assignments, and security-related system changes and releases.
  • Skill in conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), troubleshooting security issues, analyzing access risks, and supporting remediation and corrective action efforts.
  • Skill in documenting security configurations, governance standards, role catalogs, and audit-related materials with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Payroll, IT, Audit, vendors, and business stakeholders to support secure and compliant system operations.
  • Ability to interpret security requirements, apply governance standards, and balance operational efficiency with appropriate access controls and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, support ongoing system enhancements, and communicate technical security concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • None. This is an individual contributor role.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Project Management, or a related field preferred
  • Combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree
  • Certifications: Workday security certifications or related IAM certifications preferred
