Full Job Description
The HR Specialist, Employee Relations is responsible for the resolution of complex employee relations (ER) matters for U.S. and Canada based associates within the Diagnostics platform. This role provides expert consultation, investigation leadership, and programmatic ER support in partnership with HR Business Partners, People Partners, Legal, Payroll, and Centers of Excellence (COEs). The position plays a critical role in ensuring consistent, fair, legally compliant, and defensible ER outcomes while driving continuous improvement and positive associate experiences.

This position sits within the Diagnostics Human Resources organization and reports to the VP Human Resources. There is a preference for candidates who can work on-site at any Danaher Diagnostics Operating Company location. While this role is posted as on-site in the US, applications from qualified candidates in other US locations will be considered equally. The role will support multiple time zones (US Eastern, US Central, and US Pacific).

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead, conduct, and oversee employee relations level 1 investigations and support level 2 & 3 investigations, including policy violations, misconduct, retaliation, and ethics concerns managed following assigned SLAs, governance requirements, and documentation standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and HR Business Partners by providing coaching and consultation on corrective actions, post-investigation countermeasures, performance management documentation, separation rationales, workforce transition business cases, team interventions, and associate engagement solutions.
  • Act as a key liaison and "voice of the operating companies," partnering closely with Danaher Corporate Labor & Employee Relations, Legal, and HR COEs to ensure alignment, escalation, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Analyze employee relations data, trends, and root causes to identify systemic risks, prevention strategies, and opportunities to improve associate experience and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support continuous improvement of ER standard work, including intake models, investigation workflows, documentation practices, escalation pathways, training materials, and metrics reporting.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • 2+ years of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, HR Business Partnering, or a related HR specialty with ER exposure (4+ years of overall HR or related experience preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (advanced degree or HR certification preferred; equivalent experience considered).
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance-related issues with sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion. Leadership or mentoring experience desired.
  • Working knowledge of employment and labor laws (e.g., anti-discrimination, retaliation, leave, accommodation) and their practical application in day-to-day casework.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently in a complex, matrixed environment, demonstrating ability to remain composed in difficult situations, lean into constructive conflict, and model high integrity

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international travel is required (up to 10%)
