Position Summary

SUMMARY:

Responsible for generalist and/or specialized functions and assigned projects in various human resources areas. Provides human resources expertise and services and participates in the continuous improvement of human resource processes. Facilitates organizational development and changes that support key business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Increases employee commitment and maintains positive, employee relations by facilitating communication and problem resolution. Prepares team leaders and team members on interaction and interpersonal skills by recommending and conducting training programs. Provides one-on-one counseling and advice as required.

Participates in a quality hiring and selection process. May interview and screen applicants, recruit prospective employees, and coordinate searches with recruiters.

Increases the understanding and consistent application of company policies, procedures, and practices through training, coaching, and one-on-one communication. Reviews and monitors assigned personnel actions or decisions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legislation. Observes and promotes adherence to all ethical standards.

Advises and educates team leaders on the compensation planning process and may monitor increase budget for assigned group. Guides team leaders in evaluating compensation and classification decisions. May participate in or review local pay surveys, analyze pay data, and review compensation actions for merit or other pay guidelines.

Creates efficient HR administrative processes by applying continuous improvement measures and methods. Supports and participates in division continuous improvement initiatives

Communicates and administers the employee benefit program in assigned group by explaining benefit programs, resolving employee questions and problems, researching or reconciling information. May lead or participate in health, wellness, or safety committees.

Provides various statistical analyses to evaluate or support decisions. Compiles data and prepares reports for department, division, or group and to meet applicable government reporting requirements.

Studies existing and new legislation and obtains opinions from legal counsel to ensure compliance to requirements and to reduce potential company liability. Advises management on appropriate actions.

Maintains team leader and team member confidence and prevents the disclosure of confidential information. Conducts confidential internal investigations into a variety of Human Resources or other business matters as required. Collects and presents information for the company to use at court or regulatory agency hearings. May represent the company at hearings.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing business or HR-related publications, establishing industry networks, and/or participating in professional associations.

Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a designated employee population, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Execute HRIS transactions and system updates (e.g., hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, pay changes, job/position changes, cost center updates) for the assigned group.

Validate payroll inputs (timekeeping, pay rates, deductions, one-time payments) and resolve errors, variances, and audit exceptions prior to payroll close.

Serve as the primary point of contact for team member and manager inquiries related to pay, deductions, taxes, garnishments, leave impacts, and data changes.

Partner with Finance, Payroll, and HR teams to reconcile payroll reports, support month-end activities, and ensure accurate labor allocation.

Maintain data integrity by performing routine audits, documenting changes, and ensuring appropriate approvals and security access controls are followed.

Support compliance activities (e.g., record retention, SOX/internal controls, local statutory requirements) and assist with payroll/HR audits as needed.

Create and maintain standard work instructions and provide guidance/training to managers and team members on payroll and HR system processes.

Participate in system testing and process improvement initiatives (HRIS/payroll/timekeeping), including regression testing, implementation support, and change communications.

Provide Tier 1 HR support to the assigned HR Business Partner(s), triaging day-to-day requests, answering routine policy/process questions, and escalating complex issues as appropriate.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Human Resources, Business, or related field, and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. Professional entry level position. May have limited prior industry experience or worked with direction in student internship programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Fundamental knowledge of key human resources principles, concepts, laws and practices. General knowledge of various human resources or related functions (e.g. EEO, training and development, safety, etc.). Basic understanding of continuous improvement techniques and methods. Ability to work with only general work direction and instructions regarding the scope of assignments; determine priority and order of assignments. Ability to identify and define problems, research and analyze data and independently develop recommendations or resolve problems by drawing on internal information and referring to prior decisions. Ability to use standard business applications software and HRIS systems. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business or professional journals, or government regulations. Ability to respond to inquiries, problems, or complaints from team members, team leaders, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of team leaders or team members. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

  • Pay Range: $69500 to $101350 annually
