About the Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and oversee all human resources activities in Canada while partnering closely with the Leadership Team to support organizational growth and business objectives. This role is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, driving talent acquisition and employee development initiatives, and fostering a strong, high-performing workplace culture.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the early stages of a large-scale industrial project, helping establish the people, processes, and HR foundations required to support long-term growth and operational success. In close partnership with the headquarters in Oslo, Norway, the HR Manager will lead HR activities in Canada while contributing to global HR initiatives and supporting employees and leaders across multiple regions, including the United States and Asia. The role will partner closely with business leaders to align people strategies with organizational objectives and implement scalable HR practices that support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the HR function in Canada, ensuring alignment with corporate HR strategies, policies, and global practices.
• Drive workforce planning, organizational readiness, and HR preparations to support plant development and future operations.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
• Partner with local leadership to support business objectives, organizational growth, and a high-performing workplace culture.
• Oversee compensation, benefits, employee well-being, and HR policies and programs.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and HR best practices.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, community partners, educational institutions, and external organizations to support talent attraction, workforce development, and business objectives.
• Lead training, competency development, organizational development, and change management initiatives.
• Contribute to global HR projects and support employees and leaders across multiple regions.
• Analyze HR metrics and trends to provide insights and recommendations that support business decisions.
• Oversee HR systems, employee data, reporting, and day-to-day HR operations.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or project-based environments.
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and labour relations.
• Experience supporting business growth, large-scale projects, or start-up operations.
• Proven ability to partner with leaders and balance strategic and operational HR priorities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with HRIS systems, digital HR tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Assets
• CHRP or CHRL designation.
• Experience in a global or multi-site organization.
• Experience in unionized environments.
• Global mobility or international HR experience.

Location: St. Thomas, Ontario. The role will initially be remote, with occasional travel required during the project phase, and will transition to a full-time on-site position as the plant approaches start-up and operations. Travel outside of Canada could be required.
