Department: Business Partnering & Talent Acquisition Dept

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is recruiting for an HR Business Partner to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, HR Business Partnering & Talent Acquisition in the Human Resources Service Unit (HSU), part of Pembina's Corporate Services Division. This role plays an integral part in ensuring that Pembina can deliver on its strategic objectives by working closely with business clients to provide guidance and support as it relates to people-related goals and objectives. The HR Business Partner leads the delivery of HR programs and provides coaching and advice to leaders on a variety of HR related topic including employee relations, talent management, and compensation, among others. This role involves close collaboration with teams across HR to deliver solutions and guidance that drive business success. This role is also expected to provide mentorship to more junior members of the HR team.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Partnering with Leaders: Build trusted relationships with leaders to understand business priorities, workforce challenges, and talent risks. Provide practical HR guidance and solutions that support both short-term operational needs and long-term business objectives.
  • Providing HR Expertise: Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, talent management, compensation, and organizational effectiveness while ensuring compliance with employment standards and company policies.
  • Delivering Core Talent Programs: Support the delivery of key HR programs, including talent reviews, succession planning, performance management, leadership development initiatives, and annual compensation processes.
  • Coaching and Advising: Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, offer coaching and support to address challenges, implement sustainable solutions, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Driving Business-Focused HR Solutions: Work collaboratively across HR to deliver integrated HR solutions that drive business outcomes and enhance the employee experience.

Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Leading Investigations: Conduct workplace investigations, assess risks, and provide recommendations that are fair, practical, and aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Problem Solving with Data: Utilize HR data to solve problems and drive proactive HR solutions that will drive desired business outcomes.
  • Supporting Organizational Change: Assist leaders through organizational changes by assessing impacts, managing risks, and helping teams successfully navigate transitions.
  • Facilitating Fit-for-purpose Leadership and Team Sessions: Design and facilitate workshops to support teams in driving a high-performance culture.
  • Supporting Operations and Labour Relations: Provide guidance on labour relations matters and support leaders in operational environments where workforce considerations, employee relations, and business continuity are critical.


Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Proven experience in advising, influencing and partnering with leaders to achieve elevated and impactful outcomes in a complex organization.
  • Proven depth of experience in HR advisory or business partnering roles, with a strong background in employee relations, investigations, and performance management.
  • Experience working within a complex organization and with labour relations is considered an asset.

Knowledge:
  • Understanding of employment standards and human rights legislation, or demonstrated ability to find answers when not known.

Skills:
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen and curiosity, seeking to understand operational realities, business priorities, and workforce implications in order to provide practical, business-aligned HR advice.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple competing priorities.
