Hospital Director Job Description:

This position is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and can balance people leadership, operational execution, and financial performance. You will partner closely with the Medical Director and Regional Leadership to ensure the hospital consistently delivers high-quality patient care and outstanding service to both clients and referring veterinarians.

Position Overview

The Hospital Manager is responsible for leading client service operations, administrative functions, and business performance of the hospital. This includes oversight of staffing, client experience, financial outcomes, and day-to-day operations.

You will serve as a key leader in fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop client service and administrative teams to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence
  • Drive accountability, engagement, and performance through clear expectations and consistent coaching
  • Partner with leadership to recruit, onboard, and retain top talent
  • Support performance management, including feedback, development planning, and corrective action


Operations & Client Experience
  • Oversee front-of-house operations, ensuring a seamless and high-quality client experience
  • Optimize scheduling, workflow, and service delivery to support patient care and efficiency
  • Lead resolution of client concerns and ensure consistent follow-up and service recovery
  • Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, medical records, and operational standards


Financial & Business Performance
  • Review and analyze monthly P&L statements; identify opportunities to drive revenue and manage expenses
  • Partner with the Medical Director and Regional Leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and business planning
  • Drive growth through improved client retention, service utilization, and operational efficiency
  • Support marketing and referral relationship initiatives to strengthen hospital visibility and reputation


Hospital Operations & Facilities
  • Ensure the hospital environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained
  • Oversee inventory, supplies, and operational resources to support clinical teams
  • Coordinate with internal partners and vendors to maintain facility standards


Partnership & Leadership Alignment
  • Work in close partnership with the Medical Director to align on hospital priorities and performance
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to execute strategic initiatives and achieve business goals
  • Represent the hospital professionally within the community and referral network


Qualifications
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in client service, operations, or hospitality-driven environments (veterinary or healthcare preferred)
  • Strong people leadership and team development skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and operational metrics
  • Experience in customer experience, service recovery, and workflow optimization
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across diverse teams
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional presence with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Skilled in change management/leadership is a must

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 annually with eligibility for performance-based incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
