Full Job Description
HLW Senior Technical Advisor opportunity in Richland, WA for the DOE Hanford Field Office.

Position Overview:

The HLW Senior Technical Advisor will provide project controls support services in support of Tank Waste Mission and Business Operations. Support will be provided in the following areas:

Partnering and Cost Savings Support:
  • Develop and implement cost saving approaches in collaboration with the contractor that meet all contractual and technical requirements and result in measurable reductions to contract cost.
  • Facilitate effective partnering strategies aligned with recognized standards such as ISO 44001 Collaborative Business Relationship Management Systems.


Technical Issue Resolution:
  • Provide expert support in resolving complex technical and regulatory issues where requirements may be unclear or evolving. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
  • Quality Assurance
  • Nuclear Safety
  • Industrial Health
  • Engineering and Design
  • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and recommending resolution paths for issues impacting regulatory compliance, design maturity, operational readiness, and safety integration.


Federal Project Director (FPD) Technical and Programmatic Support:
  • Provide expert technical and programmatic advice to the Federal Project Director to support informed decision making related to HLW Vitrification facility design, construction, and operations.
  • Supply technical evaluations of contractor proposals, re-baselining efforts, and cost/pricing assessments.
  • Deliver expert review and analysis of technical bases, pricing methodologies, and supporting documentation developed by contractors or other sources.


Strategic Support for Emerging Project Challenges:
  • Provide strategic technical guidance in emerging and cross functional project areas, including:
  • Defense in Depth strategies
  • Safety SSC procurement planning and execution
  • Chemical Safety Management Program implementation
  • Alignment of Quality Assurance requirements with Nuclear Safety standards
  • Strengthening interfaces and integration among Nuclear Safety, QA, Engineering, and Operations organizations


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education - BS/BA degree in engineering, science, or business management
  • Fifteen years' experience working on High-Level Waste Vitrification facilities as a senior technical advisor for the activities described under technical requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOE Hanford processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in DOE's program management practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn and utilize, various technology management tools used at Hanford.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Expert-level proficient in Microsoft 365.

• United States Citizenship

Work Location: Work shall be conducted at the Hanford Field Office and the Hanford Site in Richland, WA with eligibility for situational telework at the discretion of management.

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $150,000 and $250,000 annually.
