Full Job Description
High Pressure Hydraulics System Engineer

Position Summary

An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in hydraulic systems and mechanical equipment design, and high-pressure equipment. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys designing, building, testing, and improving complex industrial machinery.

The successful candidate will divide their time between engineering design and hands-on work in the shop, spending approximately 50% of their time supporting equipment assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation. This position requires close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel and a willingness to contribute mechanical design expertise on projects led by others.

Experience with high-temperature, high-pressure press systems used in industrial diamond manufacturing or similar extreme-pressure applications is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic and mechanical systems for industrial equipment.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Perform mechanical analysis, including component sizing, material selection, stress considerations, and design validation.
  • Develop and evaluate prototypes, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.
  • Provide mechanical design expertise and technical input to support projects led by other engineers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to solve complex technical problems.
  • Document engineering designs, revisions, and test results.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Desired Attributes
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hands-on, practical mindset with a passion for solving real-world engineering challenges.
  • Self-motivated, organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic components, circuits, valves, pumps, cylinders, and system diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of material properties, mechanical strength, stress analysis, and engineering design principles.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-temperature, high-pressure press systems, particularly those used in industrial diamond or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Project management experience, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering projects.
  • Experience with DFM, FEA and other engineering tools.
