Focus: The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation of Health & Safety (EH&S) Initiatives, Emergency Response and Security processes and performance at Regional Bleach Plant facilities such that the business and corporate H&S and financial objectives are met. This role is primarily focused on improving safety performance and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Local, Corporate, and Site requirements. This position reports to the EHS Operational Lead while supporting the Bleach Plant Regional Directors and Plant Managers.

Locations serviced are Lemont IL, Henderson NV, Santa Fe Springs CA, and Augusta GA.

Health & Safety Specialist Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee, measure, and support site compliance with regulatory requirements, procedures, and initiatives regarding H&S programs, maintaining our "license to operate."
  • Develop and implement H&S programs to drive improvement at regional bleach plants, and ensure existing H&S programs and corporate directives are implemented effectively and monitored for quality and compliance, including root cause analysis, MOC processes and PSM Elements.
  • Accountable for directing and developing emergency response and security implementation processes for manufacturing, lab, and logistics.
  • Participate in Site H&S activities such as audits, PHA's, PSSR's and project reviews and maintain and report on site(s) H&S metrics and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Assist plant management in compliance with local and regional regulatory requirements and provide geographic advocacy, as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and authorities.
Health & Safety Specialist Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree*; related technical discipline preferred.
  • Must meet one of the following experience requirements:
    • 5+ years of related experience in Safety, Health, Security and Environmental, Engineering, Production, or Maintenance in a manufacturing environment; or
    • 18 months of related Olin experience.
  • Prior chemical industry experience and/or multi-site experience preferred.
  • Ability to offer subject matter expertise on all aspects of Safety, Health, and Security issues. Emergency response, first aid, fire safety or security experience and certifications preferred. Ability to effectively research and evaluate local regulations as needed.
  • Strong US regulatory/compliance experience and knowledge of PSM, EPA RMP, DOT, FMSCA and hazardous transportation regulations preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills in dealing with employees at all levels, customers, regulatory authorities, and external vendors.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50%.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.

*Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent program from an international university.
