A Day in the Life

Our HSE Manager position is based out of our Loveland, Colorado office and supports oil & gas and broader environmental services across the region. This position involves a combination of field and office work. For that reason, we are only considering candidates who are local to the area (or willing to relocate - relocation costs negotiable), and agreeable to this work arrangement.

Reporting to the Corporate Safety Director, the HSE Manager will directly supervise 1-2 HSE staff, mentor field personnel on HSE requirements, and lead day-to-day HSE performance for the region. This work supports a large portfolio of projects, is fast paced, technical in nature, and involves positive interaction with staff, clients, other businesses, and regulators.

The compensation range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000 USD commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Lead the training, development, and mentoring of field personnel on HSE requirements, ensuring they have the tools, training, and knowledge necessary to perform their day-to-day job functions safely, and building competency, accountability, and leadership capacity within the team.

• Serve as a visible and respected leader and advocate for the organization's safety culture, setting expectations through example and proactive engagement.

• Build working relationships with the Corporate Safety Director, Operations Management, People Managers, Project Managers and staff to drive safety performance across the organization and ensure that safety is actively considered in planning and executing work.

• Advise and coach operational and HSE leadership on the development and implementation of HSE strategies and tactics.

• Direct daily field operations with a strong focus on safety performance, operational efficiency, and adherence to site-specific program requirements.

• Provide HSE support to client locations including oil & gas, petrochemical, utility, federal, and other project sites.

• Work with the Corporate Safety Director and Divisional Management to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and company/client-specific HSE programs.

• Inspect workplace environments, activities, and conditions to verify that field work consistently meets local, state, and OSHA requirements and project-specific technical standards.

• Enforce health and safety policies through regular field safety briefings, hazard assessments, and proactive risk mitigation measures.

• Serve as the primary technical signatory of Health & Safety Plans (HASPs), risk assessments, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and site assessments/audits.

• Partner with project management and safety professionals to develop, implement, and continuously improve site-specific processes and systems that comply with OSHA regulations and company standards.

• Assess and audit project safety and health compliance, communicate areas of improvement to the project team, and document audits and corrective actions in our EHS software.

• Support HAZWOPER and medical surveillance program training and compliance.

• Manage select HSE processes/programs (e.g., audit program, emergency response, HSE information management systems).

• Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.

• Measure and report on KPIs, leverage HSE systems, and drive standardization of HSE practices across teams to achieve continuous improvement in HSE performance.

• Support the development of and effectively deliver HSE presentations, training, operating procedures, and periodic written communications that reinforce relevant HSE topics company-wide.

• Support the design and implementation of technology and innovative solutions to support effective HSE risk management.

• Identify trends and issues for HSE operations and engage leaders to proactively develop solutions.

• Contribute to client relationship building, and marketplace reputation that helps develop business. Support preparation of proposals, project reports, and other clear and compelling content.

Your Expertise and Skills

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university (required) - or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

• 8+ years of relevant HSE work experience, including field experience (required).

• 4+ years of experience leading, managing, or mentoring HSE staff or programs (preferred).

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ability to obtain (required).

• General knowledge of Federal and State OSHA requirements (required).

• Familiarity with Colorado state and local safety and environmental regulations, including Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) requirements, is a plus.

• Familiarity with IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) standards and guidelines is a plus.

• Experience in the oil & gas or oilfield services sector and environmental consulting (preferred).

• Experience with HAZWOPER projects and a current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred).

• Prior health or industrial hygiene experience and health and safety auditing experience (preferred).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other related business applications/software (required).

• Ability to translate HSE principles and strategy into practical applications and action plans that affect team behavior and achieve safety performance metrics.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and time/project management skills.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including strong technical writing skills.

• Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships and effective working relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and regulators.

• Able to work independently and manage multiple competing responsibilities (i.e., self-starter, self-motivated) - and to work effectively in a team environment.

• Requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record, and successful clearance of a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug test.

• Physical ability to perform outdoor field work, navigate remote and rugged project locations, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

• Ability and willingness to travel locally, with occasional overnight travel.

• Ability to work at a desk and/or computer, or driving to field operations sites, for extended hours.
